Chapter 1404

The morning light poured in from outside, bright and cheery.

Hubert had already told the medical staff not to wake Darwin up for meds or treatments.

Darwin had some serious sleep issues, but for the past few months, he’d been waking up right on the dot at 6:30 AM without any help.

But today, Darwin slept straight through until 10 AM.

The monitors hooked up to him showed all his vitals were stable and normal.

This was a huge change from before when Darwin was constantly haunted by nightmares and erratic data readings.

Hubert had taken a nap in his office and checked on Darwin a few times. Seeing Darwin sleep so peacefully, he immediately went to find Darwin to explain the cause of Aiden's illness.

Time flew by.

Even though he said goodbye to "Aiden" that night, Darwin still saw him occasionally.

The difference now was that Aiden no longer appeared covered in scars; he was bright and cheerful.

Every time Darwin saw Aiden, he would remind Aiden that he wasn't real.

After these encounters, Aiden would quickly disappear.

Over the next few months, Darwin's memories gradually came back.

The other Darwin's appearances went from every few days to barely once a month.

Darwin couldn't make it back to his loved one for Christmas that year.

Another Christmas passed.

By early summer, Darwin was looking at the calendar.

Charles and Chicago were about to start their summer break.

As Darwin was thinking, Hubert walked into his room, looking energetic.

Darwin's complexion had improved a lot.

"Did you sleep well?" Hubert asked.

Darwin nodded. "I've been sleeping pretty good lately."

"Good, keep it up," Hubert said, pausing for a moment. "Darwin, I'm planning to stop your physical therapy."

Darwin was surprised. "Why stop it when it's working so well?"

He had noticed significant improvements.

"Not just physical therapy, but also the hypnotherapy. Your medication will be reduced based on the new assessment report," Hubert said, looking at Darwin with a gentle gaze. "When you go home, you won't have daily physical and psychological therapy. I need to see how well you can manage with just the medication."

Darwin thought for a moment and asked, "Do you think I can be discharged?"

"We'll stop the treatments this month and see how it goes." Hubert nodded. "You've been here almost a year now. If you can't be discharged soon, your wife might come after me."

"Has she visited recently?" Darwin asked. "Does she know how I'm doing?"

Hubert replied, "Of course she knows!"

Darwin nodded. "Alright, let's do it your way. I haven't seen the other me for over a month, and that kid hasn't shown up this month either. I want to see if they'll appear without the physical therapy."

"I don't think they will," Hubert said lightly but with certainty.

"Why do you say that?" Darwin asked.

"This morning, I used tarot cards to ask," Hubert said, looking at Darwin. He laughed at his own absurdity.

Darwin shook his head, speechless, and then laughed along.

"Even though I didn't use tarot cards, I have the same feeling as you," Darwin said, looking at Hubert. "I've been away from my family for too long. It's time to go home."
