Chapter 1416

This situation was no challenge for the principal. He put on a smile and walked back, delivering a passionate speech that praised Charles.

Half an hour later, Thalassa smiled in front of Charles, saying, "Charles, you should've seen the look on your principal's face."

"I'm starving. Let's go home and eat." Charles replied, taking Fiona's hand and heading out.

Fiona gently rubbed the back of Charles' hand with her thumb. "It's okay. If you don't like these kinds of things next time, just tell the teacher you don't want to participate. No need to force yourself."

"It's not that I don't like it," Charles replied. "Who wouldn't like being praised? I just don't like those scripts."

The beginning of the script mostly marveled at the sunny weather today.

As Charles read it, he couldn't help but think of the formulaic speeches from other students during previous school events, which made him uncomfortable.

The teacher had said, "If you don't like it, you can improvise."

So he did.

He kept it short and sweet, not wasting everyone's time, otherwise, he wouldn't have made it home in time for dinner.

With so many people, they had to split into two cars.

Burl originally wanted to squeeze into Fiona's car, but he failed and ended up in Thalassa's car.

What annoyed him the most was that Melissa wouldn't stay with him or their parents; she insisted on being with Charlotte, crying whenever someone tried to take her away.

Fiona was also surprised that Melissa liked Charlotte so much.

Chicago noticed and said accurately, "Everyone likes pretty Charlotte. Don't you, Mommy?"

"Yes, I do." Fiona replied with a smile.

"By the way, Charlotte, have you chosen a tutor yet?" Fiona asked gently, changing the subject.

"I'm still looking, but I have a few candidates in mind." Charlotte answered.

"Alright," Fiona responded. "Since you've decided to take the high school entrance exam next year, this summer will be a bit tough."

"I know," Charlotte said, holding Melissa's chubby little hand.

Charles glanced back but didn't say anything.

Back at Emerald Pool.

Fiona finished a phone call and turned to see Charles waiting.

"What's up?" Fiona asked, hurrying over.

"Mommy, is Charlotte taking the high school entrance exam next year?"

"Yes," Fiona nodded. "Do you think it's too soon? I think she could take it the year after."

Charlotte arrived at Emerald Pool at 11, and now she's almost 13. Taking the exam next year means she'll be 14.

"It's fine, it depends on her ability and willingness," Charles shook his head. "Mommy, I'm also considering skipping a grade."

"It's not impossible. Your dad and I have discussed whether you should move to a higher grade, but we also want you to interact with kids your age. If you want to skip a grade, I'll arrange it."

"I'll handle it myself," Charles shook his head. "You're already busy enough. I'll talk to the teacher about it, and you just need to sign the papers."

"Are you sure?" Fiona asked.

It wasn't about wasting time or being too busy.

She always supported Charles and Chicago doing things on their own if they wanted to.

Charles nodded. "Alright, you handle it yourself. If any issues come up, let me know, okay?"

"Okay," Charles nodded again.

He seemed much happier.

"Fiona, it's unbelievable!" Burl stormed over.

"Who upset you now?" Fiona asked.

"Melissa and Chicago both like Charlotte more now. They don't even notice me!" He looked at Charles with a face full of grievance. "At least Charles doesn't like Charlotte. You're the only one left for me! Come on, let's play some games!"
