Chapter 546 Is my Sin Really That Great?

After Thalassa returned to Bay City, Scarlet insisted that she take an extra three days off and directly brought her back to the Walker family. Thalassa enjoyed those three days, and before leaving, Scarlet took Thalassa's hand, looked into his eyes with great tenderness and seriousness, and said, "Thalassa, if you ever miss me, just come home. Don't hide and be sad by yourself, okay?"

Thalassa's eyes reddened as she gently embraced Scarlet. "I get it, Scarlet."

"There's a good girl," Scarlet responded, smoothing her back for a moment before adding, "Of course, it would be even better if you could bring Chicago home with you next time."

That was Scarlet's biggest regret this time—not being able to have Chicago over for a visit.

Thalassa immediately laughed, "I'll do my best!"

"That's my baby!"

Matt and his son, Kenny stood by their car, not too far away. "Upset?" Matt asked.

Kenny, looking puzzled, glanced at his father. "Huh?"

"Ever since you got married... no, to be more precise, ever since you took Thalassa under your wing, Scarlet seems to have forgotten she has a son like you," Matt stated seriously. "That must hurt, right?"

Kenny came to a slow realization. "I guess... it's alright?"

"Don't put on a brave face." Matt looked at Kenny, then continued, "With this incident at Thalassa's home, you're temporarily unable to have kids, but you still shouldn't neglect taking care of your health. It's a long-term project."

"Daddy..." Kenny started.

But Matt cut him off with a raise of his hand. "I found a new health supplement. You don't have to take it regularly, just once in a while when you remember. Kenny, I'm not forcing you, I just don't want you to feel wronged."

Kenny was silent as he took the prescription from Matt's hand.

After finishing the chat with Scarlet, Thalassa came over to the two. She slowed her steps when she saw them engaged in what appeared to be a serious conversation. Then, Kenny caught sight of Thalassa and waved at him with a smile.

"Alright, you should get going," Matt said with a steady voice, then walked over to Scarlet.

"What were you and dad talking about? It seemed so serious," Thalassa whispered to Kenny.

Kenny sighed in resignation, "He switched up the health supplement for having a daughter..."

Thalassa couldn't help but burst into laughter.

On the way back home, Thalassa suddenly brought up the topic of Justin's creditors. "It's strange that not a single one has called me."

Kenny tapped his fingertips on the steering wheel, "I was actually planning to look for a time to talk to you about it after we got back."

Thalassa sat up straight. "Don't tell me you paid it off, I'd be angry!"

Kenny started laughing. "Indeed, I paid it off, but I used Justin's money."

"Didn't he lose all his money? Where did..." Thalassa was smart, and before she finished her words, she figured it out, "Did you short Justin's stocks?"

"Yeah." Kenny nodded. "I've done the math. After all the fees, there was enough left to pay off his debts, and there should be enough left over to pay you back."

"When did you start planning this?" Thalassa was incredibly shocked.

Kenny thought for a moment. "Just a few days after we got married, I guess."

"By that time, you had predicted that Justin would run?"

"At first, I just felt something was off about Justin's character, so I looked into his company's operations. I realized that the company's profits over the past few years mostly came from your goodwill. Around that time, you cut ties with them, and the collapse of the goodwill business was inevitable. I was worried when the debt exploded it could drag you down, and I got the idea when I noticed Justin was starting to shift his assets."

"You really are my husband." Thalassa gave a thumbs up.

"So, don't worry about the Shaw family anymore. From now on, you won't have to deal with such people again," Kenny spoke gently.

Thalassa looked at him and nodded lightly. The summer sun was just right.

Since the day Maria's body was discovered, Thalassa hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time.

Kenny played one of Thalassa's favorite songs. They were on their way to Bay City.

Meanwhile, Walker and Shawn had set out from Bay City, heading to England and France, respectively. Chris had quite a lot of assets domestically. They were quite a hassle to manage, so he found a lawyer to handle the trust.

His immigration paperwork was also nearly complete. He was heading to Europe, to that quaint town where he and Thalassa had shared the sweetest and most beautiful moments of their cohabitation.

After packing his bags, Chris took one last look at the house where he had lived for more than half a year. The house he and Thalassa had chosen together. Because of the abundant sunshine, she loved it, so they bought it.

The sofa, curtains, and dining chairs in the house were all Thalassa's choices.

Chris could imagine her excitement as she picked these out, thinking of their future life together.

He pulled back from his thoughts. His heart continued to ache, but Chris was used to the pain now.

He closed the door and walked to the elevator.

"Chris!" A familiar voice called out.

Chris frowned as he looked over and saw Crystal, pale and disheveled, with red eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Chris asked, the coolness in his tone unmistakable.

"I didn't do it on purpose!" Crystal cried. "I explained it already, Justin lied to me, said Thalassa was threatening you, that's why I..."

"Crystal, it's not just because of that." Chris remained calm. "Crystal, I don't love you."

Crystal froze. "I never asked you to love me!"

"I'm sorry, I didn't want it to be this way," Chris sighed. "Crystal, I'm just someone who doesn't know how to cherish what's given to me. I don't want to spend a lifetime with someone, harboring a love that will never fade, with someone else. It's not fair."

"Love that will never fade?" Crystal choked up. "Is Thalassa really that great? She just broke up, yet she can turn around and marry another guy so quickly. What's so good about her that you can't stop thinking about her?"

"Crystal!" Chris reprimanded sharply.

"What did I say wrong?" Crystal asked.

"Thalassa never hurt you. She found out I was set up with you, and she immediately broke up with me. You can hate me, but you owe Thalassa an apology," Chris said sternly. "If it weren't for Kenny and his family being so reasonable, have you ever thought about the consequences of the photo you took?"

Crystal paused. Now she hated Justin even more. If it hadn't been for him, Chris might not have called off their engagement.

"Chris, I was wrong, I truly realize my mistake!" Crystal reached out to grasp Chris's arm. "Please give me another chance, I won't say a bad word about her, I am willing to emigrate with you, and never come back. Chris, I love you... please!"

Chris was silent for a moment and then, without hesitation, he pushed Crystal's hand away and walked straight to the elevator.

"Thalassa wasn't hurt, then?" Crystal turned away from Chris, her fists clenched as she yelled, "Am I that repulsive to you?"

Chris's figure paused, he was too exhausted, with no strength left to continue explaining to Crystal.

The elevator doors opened, Chris didn't answer and simply left.

Crystal turned around, staring at the dropping numbers as the elevator descended, her eyes gradually turning red.
