Chapter 977
Darwin turned his gaze toward the source of the voice.
It was Brady.
Brady's serious admonition amused Fiona. "Who taught you that?"
"I don't need anyone to teach me this. When Grandma talks and Grandpa zones out, Grandma gives him a smack on the back of his head!" Brady said with utmost seriousness.
He was chubby. And he spoke with such earnestness, especially when describing his grandma hitting his grandpa, he displayed a sense of fear.
He was truly adorable and funny. Fiona couldn't help but laugh.
Then she gently nudged Darwin with her elbow. "Brady is right. You should listen to him."
Darwin laughed along and nodded. "Mr. Walker, I get it. I won't dare to do it again!"
"I really envy you and Uncle Kenny!" Brady said sincerely.
"Envy? Why do you envy them?" Fiona asked.
She thought Brady was probably going to say something about her and Thalassa being good-looking.
"I envy them for having gentle wives!" Brady lowered his voice, his chubby hand covering his mouth. "My grandma, my mom, and my aunt are all so fierce!"
Fiona laughed heartily.
Darwin looked at her with gentle eyes. He rarely saw Fiona so happy.
Brady had a bright future ahead of him.
"Oh no!" Brady slapped his forehead. "I forgot something important!"
"Don't slap your head. You'll make yourself silly." Fiona rubbed his head.
Brady mumbled, "My mom says I'm already silly, so it doesn't matter much."
Anna had often complained about Brady's learning abilities to Fiona.
Anna had said that the Walker family seemed to have a problem in this generation. All the intelligence went to Kenny, and their kids just couldn't have learning abilities.
It wasn't that they were bad at studying. They just didn't have the genes to study.
In other families, the eldest son would usually inherit the family business.
Anna never thought about it. She just wanted Brady to grow up healthy and kind. She had no other expectations about him.
"Go on. What is the important thing?" Fiona prompted Brady.
"My mom bought a lot of durians. They're really delicious! She asked me to bring some to you!" Brady said with a smile.
Fiona pursed her lips. "So, where are the durians?"
Brady looked down at his hands, closed his eyes, tilted his head back, and slapped his forehead. "I forgot to bring them!"
He had personally peeled the durian flesh and packed it into a container.
Anna originally wanted the servants to deliver it. Yet, Brady wanted to play with Chicago and Charles, so he insisted on bringing it himself.
Now, he was here, but the durians were not.
"Oh no! My mom is probably waiting to scold me!" Brady looked terrified.
"It's okay. Since Darwin and I are taking a walk, we'll go back with you to get it. If your mom scolds you, I'll help explain this on your behalf!" Fiona said gently.
Brady nodded quickly. "We have to hurry. My mom said it's hot, and the durians can't be left out for long, or they won't taste good!"
With Darwin, Fiona couldn't move quickly.
Seeing Brady so anxious, Darwin said to Fiona, "I'll wait for you in the pavilion."
Fiona said, "All right, be good. I'll be back soon."
"Okay." Darwin nodded.
Brady was greatly astonished.
After walking a few steps with Fiona, he asked in a low voice, "Do adults need to be humored too? After I started school, my mom stopped humoring me!"
Fiona couldn't help but laugh. "I have to. Darwin likes it."
