Chapter 1421
The endless, passionate kiss left them both breathless. Darwin rested his forehead against Fiona's, their noses touching.
"Feels like a dream." He murmured.
Fiona chuckled, without a word, giving his lower lip a gentle bite. "Does it hurt? If it hurts, it's not a dream."
"Sweetheart, that was too gentle. Bite harder." Darwin whispered in her ear, his voice low.
He looked like he was ready to let Fiona do whatever she wanted.
Fiona laughed lightly but didn't bite him again. Instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and held him close. "Actually, Charles and Chicago don't know you're back."
Darwin was taken aback.
Fiona continued, "I told them I was going on a business trip for seven days and that I'd bring back the gift they wanted most."
"Seven days?" Darwin gently pushed Fiona back a bit. "We get to be alone for seven days?"
"If you think that's too much..."
Before Fiona could finish, Darwin kissed her again, showering her face with kisses in his excitement. "Not too much at all!"
"But," Fiona said, holding his chin with a mysterious smile, leaning back slightly and tilting her head to look at him, "Mr. Solomon, you've just recovered from a serious illness. Are you sure you have the stamina?"
Darwin's eyes darkened, locking onto Fiona as if he was about to devour her whole.
He took her hand and placed it on his abdomen.
His abs were still there, firm and solid.
"You'll just have to find out."
What followed was a long night of consequences for Fiona's boldness.
During this time, she noticed some changes in Darwin after more than nine months of treatment.
He wasn't as submissive as before, but the initial arrogance and domineering attitude were gone too. He had perfectly merged the old Darwin with the post-amnesia Darwin.
He was assertive when needed, gentle when appropriate.
He didn't hide his obsession with her.
Even in moments of passion, he would look at her, pleading for her to love him forever.
Fiona was no longer in her twenties.
Exhausted, she didn't even know when she fell asleep.
When she woke up, it was completely dark outside.
She had moved from the living room to the bedroom, but Darwin wasn't beside her. She reached out and felt the lingering warmth, indicating he had been there not long ago.
Fiona felt a bit worried.
She got out of bed, put on a velvet robe, and walked out of the room.
Opening the door, she smelled something delicious.
She walked out and saw Darwin in the kitchen, reheating the food she had made before picking him up.
The living room was comfortably warm, with the air conditioning set just right.
The dining room lights were warm and inviting. Fiona felt a moment of disorientation.
In the past, it was always her in the kitchen at this time.
"You're awake?"
Darwin noticed Fiona's gaze and immediately turned around.
He put down the spatula and walked over to her. "You still look half-asleep."
Darwin wrapped his long arms around her waist, pulling her into his embrace, and gently pinched her cheeks with his other hand.
Fiona raised her hand, her thumb softly brushing his cheek. "I used to imagine this scene."
Darwin froze, his expression turning guilty. "I'm sorry. I was so foolish back then. I thought I loved Lilian. But I was just confusing her with you..."
"Don't apologize," Fiona said, her face serene. "Let's not dwell on the past. What's important is our future, our future together."
Darwin nodded.
