Chapter 1346
Hubert suggested the family could visit.
When Fiona heard the news, she immediately asked Kenny to take Charles and Chicago to Cyberia.
When Charles and Chicago found out they could see Darwin, even the usually stoic Charles couldn't stop smiling for two days. "Fiona, you can actually go too," Ashton said, looking at Fiona.
Fiona stared at the cup of medicine that never seemed to empty no matter how much she drank.
"I'll wait for him to recover and come home," Fiona said gently.
She didn't dare to take the risk.
Darwin was doing so well now; what if seeing her again triggered something?
Hearing this, Ashton didn't know what to say to comfort Fiona.
She placed her hand gently on Fiona's back and patted it softly.
As time went on, Ashton struggled to figure out who owed whom between Fiona and Darwin. However, what she understood was that regardless of the debts involved, they were destined to be intertwined, unable to let each other go.
It was as if they were originally one entity.
At that moment, Melissa struggled to crawl over to Fiona and placed a doll she was holding on Fiona's foot.
Fiona put down the medicine.
Smiling, she picked up the chubby Melissa and placed her in her lap, rubbing her cheek against Melissa's.
"All slobber!" Ashton said, half-laughing, half-crying.
"Melissa is so young and already knows how to comfort Charles's mom. What a good girl!" With Charles not around, Fiona started talking nonsense.
Far away, Charles sneezed lightly.
Kenny looked at him keenly and said, "Are you cold? Put on your scarf."
"I'm not cold," Charles said, waving his hand dismissively. "How much longer until we see Dad?"
"Half an hour," Kenny replied, silently putting the scarf away.
On this trip, he had brought a lot of snacks and books, but none of them were used.
Even Chicago was unusually quiet, either buried in her homework or lost in thought for extended stretches of time. After getting off the plane, Chicago sat in the child seat and immediately fell asleep.
This left Kenny bewildered.
Charles nodded and adjusted the blanket for the sleeping Chicago.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at the back door of Hubert's research institute.
Chicago, who had been in a deep sleep, suddenly woke up, as if sensing something.
She was a bit groggy from sleep.
She opened her eyes and looked around, making sure Charles was beside her. With tears welling up in her eyes, she called out, "Charles."
"We're at Dad's place," Charles said gently.
Chicago finally came to her senses, wiped the tears from her eyes, unbuckled her seatbelt, and jumped out as soon as the car door opened.
At that time, Darwin heard the car and immediately came out.
He saw that Chicago had grown taller.
"Chicago!" Darwin said joyfully.
"Dad!" Chicago couldn't hold back her tears and threw herself into Darwin's arms, hugging him tightly.
Darwin had been drinking all sorts of medicines every day.
Even though he had taken a careful bath and changed into new clothes, Chicago could still smell the bitter medicine.
She was very sad. "Dad, I missed you so, so much. Are you feeling better? Does anything still hurt?"
"Dad doesn't hurt," Darwin said, holding back his tears. He looked up at Charles, who was standing by the car. "Charles, come over here."
