Chapter 830 Shooting Yourself in the Foot
Rebecca used to genuinely love her sister.
Her two brothers were both troublemakers, and the elders in the family valued boys over girls.
Having a sister felt like gaining a partner in times of hardship.
But as Stella grew, things changed.
Slowly, she became prettier than Rebecca, excelled in her studies, and seemed to have a natural talent for everything she did.
Even the young masters from the old money families only had eyes for her sister.
Their father's attention was always on Stella.
Even when there were good marriage prospects, Adam only thought about introducing them to Stella.
Rebecca's mindset gradually lost its balance.
Rebecca started thinking about Stella's mother and background.
Hatred surged within her like a flash flood.
Rebecca no longer loved her sister; she only wanted to destroy her radiance and make everyone detest and despise her!
A mistress's illegitimate daughter deserved such a fate!
Although things didn’t go as planned, the fat, balding rich businessman never succeeded in sleeping with Stella, the two of them ended up completely at odds.
But, Stella still followed the path Rebecca had laid out for her.
Stella gave up her studies, allowed rumors to tarnish her reputation without a word of defense.
Gradually, she fell out of favor with her father, was shunned by the Old Money young masters, and became the subject of ridicule.
Meanwhile, Rebecca...
With Stella out of the picture, she surged ahead like a juggernaut.
She married a husband of excellent background and was highly valued in the company by her father.
However, in recent years, the economy had taken a severe downturn.
Her husband's family business was on the brink of collapse, and the White family's jewelry business was gradually shutting down worldwide.
It was at this juncture that news of Stella's marriage arrived.
Surprisingly, it was to Alexander of the Beaumont family, not Preston.
Those unfamiliar with the Beaumont family might not know much about Alexander.
However, there was some interaction between the White family and the Beaumont family, so Alexander was known to them.
Alexander's connections and wealth were overwhelming for both the White family and Rebecca's husband's family.
Rebecca couldn't understand how Stella ended up with Alexander, especially since, at the end of last uear, she was still entangled with Wyatt...
"Rebecca?" Frederick's voice interrupted Rebecca's thoughts.
She looked up.
"What's wrong?"
"You're daydreaming?" Frederick said discontentedly. "I just said that the Rhoads family could help with the business of your brother-in-law's family. When the time comes, have Stella talk to Chelsea about it, okay? Otherwise, if your brother-in-law's family goes bankrupt, they'll come to leech off our family..."
Rebecca was a daughter-in-law of the Rhoads.
Ultimately, the White family's business belonged to the two brothers.
Neither of the brothers wanted the brother-in-law's family to come seeking help.
"As far as I know, Stella isn’t particularly close to Chelsea," Rebecca's tone was somewhat harsh. "If she talks about it and the Rhoads family can cooperate with your brother-in-law's family, what kind of relationship would that be?"
"That's true..." Frederick nodded.
At that moment, Adam spoke in a deep voice, "Even if Stella can't persuade the Rhoads family, Alexander's resources are substantial. If he offers some help, it could alleviate the immediate crisis."
Under the table, Rebecca's hand clutched tightly into a fist, her nails digging into her flesh.
She felt as if she were back in the days when she was not valued, while everyone adored Stella.
Alexander didn't seem like the kind of person who paid attention to external rumors...
Rebecca lowered her gaze.
With a cold sneer in her heart, she thought, Stella, oh Stella, you deliberately asked Alexander to invite them over to flaunt him in front of her?
This time, Rebecca would show Stella how ruthless she could be!
The last two days of the wedding passed quickly.
Little Chicago seriously participated in the wedding rehearsal.
Stella adored Chicago too much.
After the rehearsal, when they returned to the hotel, Chicago still had traces of Stella's lipstick on her face.
She was also so tired that her eyes were drooping.
Charles, being a good brother, sat in front of her, gently wiping off the lipstick marks on her face with their mother's makeup remover.
"Are you this tired?" Charles asked.
Chicago nodded, "Wait until Thalassa's wedding, and you'll see."
"Okay."
Charles nodded, wiping off the last bit of lipstick, "You can go wash your face now."
Chicago went to the bathroom, washed her little face while standing on a small stool, then fell asleep on the bed.
Fiona and Darwin watched and chuckled.
During the rehearsal, Chicago had been full of energy, but as soon as they left the wedding venue, it was as if her energy had been completely drained.
Early the next day, Chicago changed into her flower girl's dress and was ready to go with full energy.
Although Fiona wasn't a bridesmaid, she had promised Stella to accompany her.
So, at the church, she solemnly placed the hands of the father and son together.
"Charles, I’m entrusting Dad to you. Take care of each other, and call me if you need anything, okay?"
Charles nodded, gripping his father's hand tightly. "I will."
"Take care of Charles." Fiona looked at Darwin.
"Okay." Darwin nodded.
Before leaving, Fiona tiptoed to kiss Darwin on the cheek and went to find Stella.
However, just as she had walked a short distance away from the crowd, she heard a voice that made her uncomfortable.
"I'm the bride's sister. This is a surprise I prepared for the bride, a video of us growing up together. Play it before the ceremony starts."
Fiona furrowed her brows slightly.
Stella's sister?
"Here's ten thousand euros, consider it a reward for your hard work," the voice continued.
"You're too kind. I'll play it at the appropriate time."
After the two finished their transaction and left, Fiona walked over calmly.
She glanced sideways, she saw a woman in an elegant dress, stepping down the stairs in high heels, looking pleased.
It was Rebecca.
Fiona recognized her from a women entrepreneurs’ summit they both attended previously.
"A surprise for the bride?" Fiona murmured softly.
Suddenly, in her mind, she saw Stella's face clouded with worry upon hearing that her family had arrived.
She promptly took out her phone.
As she walked towards Stella, she dialed a number.
The other end seemed busy and took a while to answer.
"Miss Woods, what's up?"
"Alexander, I suspect someone might try to sabotage the wedding. Can you investigate..."
Alexander’s aesthetic sense was impeccable.
The entire banquet hall was romantically and elegantly arranged.
Fiona crossed the banquet hall and arrived at Stella's dressing room.
"Fiona, you're here. I was just about to call you," Stella said, immediately reaching out to her for support.
Fiona smiled and held her hand. "Is there anything I can do?"
Stella shook her head, "Alexander has everything arranged. Just sit here and chat with me. I feel safe with you here."
