Chapter 102 Twins

"I understand," Fiona nodded.

The test results came out quickly.

It seemed that recently, Darwin had been taking good care of her.

Both she and the baby were doing well.

Fiona couldn't help but sigh with emotion.

She must be carrying an angelic baby. Despite her constant condition, she was still fine.

Fiona thought to herself.

The latest ultrasound results were also available.

The doctor gladly handed the ultrasound report to Fiona and glanced ambiguously at Dagmar, who was standing beside her with her other examination forms.

"Congratulations, Miss Woods. You're expecting twins!"

Fiona was taken aback for a moment.

Subconsciously, she thought of the two orbs she saw when she was on the verge of death that day.

An inexplicable feeling surged through her, like a mountain collapsing and a tsunami coming.

She covered her mouth, and her eyes instantly started to water.

Dagmar snapped back to reality and saw that Fiona was about to cry.

Furrowing his brows, he hurriedly coaxed, "Fiona, this... this is good news. Why cry? Don't cry..."

"I'm not crying; I'm happy."

Fiona then thanked the doctor and left.

Leaving the examination room, Fiona was still filled with deep emotions.

She looked forward to the day she would meet her babies more than ever before.

She didn't know if they would remember that they had saved their mother's life when they were so tiny.

"Oh, I forgot my bag!" Fiona reached the elevator and only then realized that she had left her bag on the chair in the examination room.

"Wait for me here; I'll go get it," Dagmar said, turning around and rushing back to the examination room.

Fiona stood still.

She gently stroked her abdomen with excitement.

She thought, Darwin, you better keep your promise; otherwise, you have no idea how great of a loss you would suffer!

Thinking about Darwin's recent obsession with the baby, Fiona wondered to herself, would he be happy if he knew? He probably would be, right...

Dagmar returned to the examination room.

The doctor, who had just prepared to leave, joked, smiling, "Dr. Dagmar, when do you plan to have a wedding celebration?"

Dagmar was momentarily stunned. Then he regained his composure. This person must have misunderstood his relationship with Fiona.

However, what could he respond?

"It depends on her," Dagmar said gracefully.

"Once you have children, you need to seize the time. She won't look beautiful in a wedding dress once her belly gets big!"

Dagmar smiled and didn't engage in further conversation. He grabbed Fiona’s bag and left.

"Coming hastily, leaving hastily. To make sophisticated Dr. Dagmar disregard his image like this, it seems like someone must have a special place in his heart," Fiona commented as she retrieved her bag.

"I just finished work as well. Shall we have dinner together?" Dagmar suggested.

Fiona felt a little helpless. "Let's do it later; for now... I'm afraid of causing you trouble."

Dagmar frowned.

"Is he having someone watch over you?"

"Not sure, but just in case, right?"

Dagmar remained silent for a moment. "Understood," he finally responded.

"Thank you, Dagmar," Fiona said sincerely.

"Fool..." Dagmar's heart ached with bitterness.

During this time, he was wrapped in regret every day.

If he had come back earlier, if he had been by Fiona's side earlier...

Would none of this have happened?

The more he thought about it, the more agonizing it became for Dagmar.

He couldn't imagine what circumstances led Fiona, who was so proud and arrogant, to go to Darwin.

Leaving the hospital, Fiona went directly back to the hotel. Not long after she arrived, Janna returned. When Fiona approached, she saw Janna with red, teary eyes.

"Grandma Rhoads, what's wrong?" Fiona furrowed her brow and asked with concern.

Janna patted the seat beside her, motioning for Fiona to sit down.

Once Fiona was seated, Janna held her hand. "When you left the nursing home last time, there was something you didn't know."

Janna Rhoads let out a sigh. "Turns out, my eldest daughter-in-law was already pregnant when she left."

Fiona was shocked. "Your son didn't know?"

"No one knew!" Janna Rhoads lamented. "Later, I thought about it. She must have wanted to tell me, but then the accident happened that same day."

Fiona furrowed her brow. Perhaps it was because she herself was now pregnant that she empathized with Jane, Mrs. Janna, a little more.

"So, you came to Serene City this time to find that child?" Fiona asked.

"Yes!" Janna Rhoads nodded. "Jane's biological parents probably didn't want us to find anything related to them. I couldn't find any information at all. The child is out there somewhere!"

Fiona felt somewhat helpless. Truthfully, if she were Jane's biological parents, she would make the same choice. Not everything in this world can be undone. During that period, Jane would have experienced more pain than Janna Rhoads had.

"Don't be too saddened. Maybe she's living a good life?" Fiona offered feeble comfort.

Janna shook her head, her emotions becoming somewhat agitated.

"A child so young, without a mother, how could they have a good life?"

Fiona instantly thought of herself. Yes, a child without a mother would indeed have a difficult time living well.

Janna started getting emotional again. She took out her phone and scrolled through her photo album, finding a group photo of four people.

Seeing this, Fiona quickly changed the subject.

"Joshua and the other two were classmates that I studied with," Janna said regretfully. "In these past two years, they have each passed away, one after another."

Joshua?

To be honest, Fiona was quite curious about what he looked like. Subconsciously, she leaned in a little.

"You want to see Joshua, don't you?" Janna Rhoads smiled and enlarged a photo, handing it to Fiona.

Fiona chuckled awkwardly, "It's all because of what you said last time, praising how handsome Joshua was when he was young..."

As Fiona spoke, her gaze fell upon Joshua's face. At first glance, she had to admit that Janna was not exaggerating at all. Joshua was indeed very handsome, tall, and elegant. However, after examining closely while tilting her head, there was something familiar to the man. Fiona seemed to have seen Joshua somewhere before.

But where?

Fiona thought carefully, the answer seemed to be on the tip of her tongue, but it just couldn't come to her.

"More handsome than Darwin, right? You're stunned!" Janna interrupted Fiona's thoughts.

Fiona hesitated for a moment but decided to be honest, "Joshua looks familiar to me, but I can't remember where I've seen him."

"In the sanatorium, didn't you see him there?" Janna blurted out.

After saying that, she realized that Joshua was already like a skeleton back then.

"Before Joshua fell ill, he was always involved in charity work, and there have been many media reports about it. You might have seen some of the coverage," Janna lowered her eyelids, looking at Joshua's young and handsome face with a sigh, "He always felt guilty regarding Jane, and after she left, there was no news from her. He was involved in charity work mostly as a way to atone, hoping to accumulate blessings for Jane, but he never expected that Jane would pass away early."
