Chapter 1075
Mason was in the church, interacting with different people. But he had never encountered such a strange look.
Fortunately, the gaze only lasted a moment before Angela tugged Amy and scolded her softly to behave, then followed the congregation into the church.
Mason didn't think much of it.
He diligently swept leaves all morning.
By noon, he went to the cafeteria to eat.
As soon as he arrived at the cafeteria, a few familiar congregants sat next to him. One of them, Jasper, remarked, "Mrs. Beaumont sure knows how to stir up trouble."
"How did she trouble you?" Mason immediately retorted, "Last time she brought fruit, you ate a lot without hesitation!"
Jasper had a pretty good temper. Even after Mason scolded him, he didn't get angry and even gave Mason a donut from his plate. "Do you remember the family that pushed you and insisted on seeking help from the church?"
"Of course I remember, it was Mrs. Beaumont who took me to the hospital," Mason replied, his tone quite proud.
"Later, she probably felt sorry for that crazy woman, so she contacted a very reputable expert from abroad to treat her for free," Jasper continued, "This donut is freshly made, you should eat it quickly, it won't taste good cold!"
Although Mason didn't like Jasper talking about Stella, he didn't intend to argue over a donut.
He stuffed the donut into his mouth and said, "She kindly helps others, that's a good thing, how can you call it trouble?"
Aaron then chimed in, "The problem is, Patricia's friend's mother found out about this, and now she's brought her daughter to the church, insisting that we should treat her daughter for free! This is beyond our church's control. How should we handle this?"
Mason immediately thought of the strange look Amy had given him earlier.
"Liam isn't at the church these days, and we can't contact Father Alexander. We can only calm them down and ask them to go back first. When Liam returns, we can ask him to contact Father Alexander to see if he can help," Aaron continued.
Mason was still young.
He didn't understand much about social intricacies.
Hearing Aaron say this, he immediately said confidently, "She's very kind, if she can help, she definitely will."
Seeing that the other congregants were about to laugh at him again, he quickly finished the food on his plate.
He picked up his tray to go wash it.
Unexpectedly, in his haste, he accidentally bumped into someone.
"Sorry!" Mason quickly apologized.
When he looked up, he met those eyes from the morning.
"Watch your step!" The previously kind Angela now looked very impatient.
Betty had praised them before.
After getting Amy discharged, she spent an extra three hundred dollars on a cab to come here, out of a sense of luck.
Unexpectedly, the people here were too snobbish.
Probably knowing they were from the countryside, they looked down on them and didn't want to help at all.
They kept making excuses, saying Father Alexander wasn't at the church, telling them to come back in a few days.
The nearby accommodations were very expensive.
She wanted to stay at the church with Amy. But they kept making excuses, refusing to let them stay!
Now, she was very angry at these congregants!
Mason had a gentle personality. He didn't want to argue with Angela, so he apologized again.
Then he went to wash his dishes.
Angela glanced at Mason's back, cursed under her breath, and seeing that there wasn't much food left in the cafeteria.
She quickly tugged Amy. "Don't dawdle, grab more fruit, it's worth more!"
Saying this, Angela squeezed into the crowd to get in line.
