Chapter 1279
That night, Emerald Pool was buzzing with activity.
The big villa was lit up like a Christmas tree.
Janna had gifts ready for the kids at home.
Kids love presents, and even Charlotte was thrilled with the boxing gear Janna got her. She suited up in the protective gear.
Stuart, who was deep into his gardening book, got a surprise attack out of nowhere.
Even though he spent most of his time with plants, his reflexes were still sharp.
Charlotte's punches came fast and hard, but Stuart dodged them like a pro, then grabbed her arm and tossed her aside in a flash.
The adults were stunned.
Luckily, Charlotte kicked mid-air, landed smoothly, and wasn't mad at all. She even said excitedly, "Ms. Janna Rhoads, this is awesome, I love it!"
Janna chuckled and shook her head at the odd scene. "Charlotte, Stuart's got some serious skills. Be more careful next time, okay?"
"Got it!" Charlotte clung to the gear, totally smitten.
Meanwhile, Ashton thought the whole scene might've freaked Melissa out.
But to her surprise, Melissa, with her big eyes wide open, was just staring at Charlotte, totally unfazed.
At first, Ashton thought Melissa was just brave. But then she worried that not knowing fear might not be a good thing.
They decided to see a doctor first thing in the morning. So, before dawn, Ashton and Kenny quietly took Melissa to get checked out.
After the exam, the doctor said, "She's perfectly fine, just really brave."
Melissa, confirmed to be just super brave, bit her finger and drooled.
As they left the clinic, Ashton suddenly started crying.
Kenny was taken aback. "Honey, why are you crying? The doctor said she's fine."
"Tears of joy," Ashton said, wiping her tears. "There's been so much going on, I was really scared something might be wrong with Melissa too."
"She'll be fine." Kenny kissed her forehead and hugged her tight.
When they got back to Emerald Pool, they ran into Stella and Alexander arriving at the same time.
With Alexander around, Stella had been doing a lot better lately.
But she still hadn't fully accepted Mason's situation.
Mason was gone, and she had to keep moving forward, keep living.
Since Stella and Alexander were visiting, and it was Janna's first day back, Fiona took the day off.
After saying their hellos, Stella took Ashton to play with Melissa.
Meanwhile, Alexander took Fiona to the living room, sat her down, and gave her a quick once-over.
He frowned. "You seem more stressed than before, and your sleep and diet are off."
Fiona sighed. "Sorry."
"Is something wrong?" Alexander asked. "I heard Mr. Solomon hasn't been seen in public for over half a month."
Fiona poured him a cup of tea. "He's sick, getting treatment."
Alexander looked surprised. "What kind of illness?"
