Chapter 1207
Mike arrived at the Window of Art Museum only to find Xavier lying in a pool of blood. Having gleaned the situation from Xavier's words, he quickly called an ambulance from the Rhoads Group for Xavier, knowing Darwin was behind this mess.
Xavier, barely holding on, managed to whisper, "Forget about me, find Mr. Solomon."
Mike bolted out, but Darwin had already vanished.
Not wanting to draw too much attention, Mike followed the blood trail, which soon disappeared.
He then used nearby businesses' surveillance cameras to track Darwin to the park area.
It was late, and most places were closed, so Mike couldn't get more footage. He decided to search the park himself.
There was a car accident nearby involving a drunk person hit by a speeding car.
Remembering Xavier's warning about Darwin's unstable state, Mike felt a chill and ran over, but it was a false alarm.
"Just when I was at a loss for where to go, I suddenly spotted a signpost pointing towards Central Park. This place is where you and Mr. Solomon are familiar with, so I thought he might have gone to the park, and I quickly turned and ran towards the park entrance."
Mike was on the opposite side of the road at the time.
When he ran to the park entrance, he saw Fiona and a few others hurriedly entering the park.
He had a gut feeling that something was wrong.
So he quickly called the ambulance he had prepared in advance.
Then he anxiously followed them inside.
The subsequent events happened at that time.
After listening Mike's explaining, Fiona asked, "How's Xavier? Is he here?"
"Not good," Mike replied. "He's in critical condition. Christopher is with him."
Fiona felt a sharp pain in her head. "Tell the doctors to do whatever it takes to save him."
"I will," Mike assured her. "You should rest. I'll call you if Mr. Solomon wakes up."
Fiona, feeling dizzy, drank a glucose drink and rested in the lounge opposite Darwin's room.
She had a restless sleep, haunted by images of Darwin's terrifying face and him sinking into a dark lake.
She remembered Darwin once saying if he ever treated her badly, it wasn't really him but the bad Darwin taking over.
Fiona woke up with a start when someone knocked on the door.
"Ms. Rhoads, Mr. Solomon is awake!"
She quickly got up, adjusted her collar to hide the bruises, and headed to Darwin's room.
Mike stopped her.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
Mike gestured for Fiona to look at the monitor in the room first.
She frowned and took it.
Fiona saw Darwin sitting up and talking to someone at the foot of the bed. She felt a chill.
"Chelsea, maybe..."
"It's okay," Fiona said, handing the iPad back to Mike.
She then pushed open the door to the room, and Darwin immediately looked over.
