Chapter 631 Fight Back

Fiona picked up the call and answered promptly.

"Are you home? I'm coming to find you," Thalassa's voice sounded urgent.

"I'm in the living room, take your time," Fiona responded calmly.

Thalassa acknowledged her response and quickly made his way to the living room where Darwin and Fiona were already present.

Fiona's demeanor was chilly, her expression giving away little.

"Do you both know about it?" Thalassa asked, her brows furrowing with concern.

"Yes," Fiona nodded, her voice tinged with curiosity. "I was just wondering why he left me out."

Thalassa nudged Fiona's arm hastily. "Stop talking nonsense, it's a good thing you're not involved. What's there to wonder about?"

"Are you sure it was Simon who hired the hitman?" Kenny inquired, seeking confirmation.

"Simon," Darwin muttered, his disbelief palpable. "That killer said Simon went mad, and it turns out to be true."

The brazen act of hiring a hitman in such a public manner was outrageous.

"Five hundred million dollars for one person, there will always be someone willing to take the job with that much money," Fiona remarked, leaning against the back of the sofa. "Simon is playing a desperate game with us."

"How many assets does he have anyway? Did he use all of them to hire a hitman?" Thalassa exclaimed, her shock evident.

Despite Simon's royal titles, he was widely regarded as the weakest among his siblings, lacking in financial prowess, intellect, and charm.

Apart from the properties under his name, Simon relied on the annual allowance from the royal family to sustain his lifestyle.

Now, Simon had staked 1.5 billion dollars, essentially his entire fortune, as the reward.

Fiona chuckled suddenly. "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have more than just that amount of money."

Thalassa paused, taken aback, while Darwin looked at Fiona with intrigue.

Soon after, a lucrative bounty appeared on the dark web.

[Target: Assassinate Darwin and his two children.]

[Reward: 1.5 billion dollars.]

The dark web buzzed with activity as soon as the bounty surfaced.

Though the amount seemed the same, they were offering 1.5 billion dollars for one person, unlike the previous target.

As far as they knew, numerous attempts had been made on Darwin's life over the years, let alone his children.

Initially, they thought the matter would end there. Little did they anticipate that shortly after, a user named JTX added 50 million dollars to the bounty.

"It's Janna!" Thalassa exclaimed excitedly. "Even though that despicable Simon isn't worth that much money, I want to contribute too!"

But it was too late to halt Thalassa's impulsive decision.

An ID called sweet88888 sweetened the pot with an additional ten million dollars.

This sparked a chain reaction, spiraling out of control.

Some mysterious IDs added trivial sums, while others added millions.

The reward surged from its initial 150 million dollars to over 200 million.

They hoped for things to stabilize, yet a user with the ID Thalassa's mother-in-law upped the ante with another 30 million and a stern message. [Whoever harmed my granddaughter, I will punish you no matter how far you are!]

Thalassa happened to be taking a sip of water when she read it, causing her to spit it out in astonishment.

"Your mother-in-law?" Fiona echoed, equally shocked.

Thalassa nodded, puzzled. "With that tone and that ID, who else could it be?"

Fiona glanced at Thalassa reassuringly. "Thalassa, your good days are still ahead!"

Meanwhile, Simon remained in a daze until his old servant roused him.

"What's wrong?" Simon demanded, his anger flaring.

"Sir, something is happening on the dark web..." the servant trailed off ominously.

Simon snapped to attention, clutching the servant's hand urgently. "Are Darwin and those brats dead?"

The servant shook his head. "Chelsea also put out a hit on you, sir. The bounty has now reached 250 million dollars!"

"What?" Simon's shock was palpable, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

"The palace has called, urging your immediate return for refuge. The royal family will handle the dark web and the Solomon family situation," the servant informed while assisting Simon with his clothes.

Simon hastily changed, not forgetting to retrieve Lilian's ashes that had fallen to the ground.

As dawn approached, the deserted streets amplified Simon's paranoia, every shadow a potential threat.

Upon entering his car, he feared it might have been tampered with by assassins, prompting him to flag down a passing vehicle.

In the chaos, Lilian's ashes spilled onto the ground, mingling with the rainwater and mud.

Simon collapsed, distraught, as his attendants rushed to his aid, ushering him into the car.

"Lilian!" Simon cried out, his anguish echoing in the empty streets.

The old servant cast a disdainful glance back.

Before Princess Lilian's arrival, Prince Simon's capabilities were meager. But since her coming, his behavior had grown increasingly erratic, much to his family's dismay.

He had even dared to provoke powerful families like the Solomons, Rhoads, and Walkers for reasons unknown.

In the eyes of the old servant, a 250-million-dollar bounty for murder was beyond comprehension.

His priority now was securing the prince's safety and negotiating with the rival families.

Soon, Simon found himself back at the palace, where his mother greeted him with a resounding slap.

"Your brother has earned favor in the royal family, set to be promoted to Secretary of State next year. And now, you've caused this debacle. Was it intentional?" she scolded.

Simon's eyes blazed with fury. "Is this my fault? Darwin took my wife and child, and I wanted justice. You're all cowards, afraid of Darwin and the Rhoads. Even when our own were slain, you remained indifferent. I had no choice but to act!"

"And what have you achieved? You scraped together 150 million, and they effortlessly amassed another billion. It's a game to them!" his mother retorted. "And Lilian, she was not your wife. The child she carried could be anyone's but yours!"

Simon's complexion turned ashen.

"Now, go to the confinement room. You're not to leave until this mess is sorted!" his mother ordered sternly.
