Chapter 1194

Six months down the line, Brooke stumbled upon Aiden and Marisole's relationship.

Brooke had already mapped out Aiden's engagement to a rich heiress for that year.

But this time, Aiden, who usually went along with Brooke's plans, pushed back.

Brooke knew Aiden too well. His defiance meant something was definitely up.

It was Aiden's birthday, the first and only one he spent with Marisole.

He told Aldrich, "She stayed with me until midnight, was the first to wish me happy birthday, and spent the whole day with me. I felt like a kid again."

When they got back, their joy was shattered.

Brooke was at his apartment door, looking all elegant. She slapped Marisole. "So it was you. The Solomon Family helped you and your sister, and now you want to become the mistress of the Solomon family."

"Mrs. Solomon, I didn't..." Marisole started.

Brooke slapped her again. "Who do you think you are?"

Aiden was stunned. By the time he reacted, Brooke had him dragged into the elevator.

Aiden resisted, but Brooke said, "If you leave her now, I can pretend this never happened. Otherwise, the next time you see her, it'll be as a corpse."

She added, "Aiden, I don't fear your hatred. You'll realize that girl can't compare to the marriage partner I've arranged for you."

Aiden later said, "I couldn't contact Marisole anymore. I knew she must have been threatened by my mom too. And she has a sister."

When Fiona read this, she knew something was going to happen.

Aiden's illness flared up, with severe hallucinations and delusions.

He said there was always a severely injured brown bear at home, glaring at him, and tiny people running around his room.

The bear would attack him, and he'd get hurt, with head injuries daily. The little people made so much noise he couldn't sleep.

At first, Brooke thought he was faking it to see Marisole, but after Aiden nearly died in a car accident, she realized it was serious.

She contacted Aldrich, whom she had once helped.

Aiden first walked into Aldrich's research institute in the depths of winter.

In his talks with Aldrich, he only spoke about hating Brooke and missing Marisole.

Watching Aiden wither away, Aldrich constantly persuaded Brooke to let Aiden see Marisole.

Brooke finally gave in.

When Marisole arrived at the institute, it had been almost a year since they last saw each other.

At first, Aiden had no reaction. He often talked to an imagined Marisole, so he thought it was a hallucination.

It wasn't until Marisole cried and hugged him that the numbness and indifference on Aiden's face began to crumble.
