Chapter 1337
Fiona went quiet for a bit. "Yeah, Aiden's sudden illness was definitely because of the meds." As soon as she said that, Hubert clammed up too.
Both of them knew only a handful of people had access to Aiden's medication back then.
No one had any reason or right to mess with Aiden's meds.
Everyone around Aiden at the time just wanted him to get better fast.
"Darwin's meds are recorded daily, right?" Fiona switched topics.
"Yeah, but just to be safe, I'll handle his meds personally from now on," Hubert said seriously.
"Thanks," Fiona replied.
"Ms. Rhoads, don't stress too much. It was over thirty years ago. The people around Aiden back then are probably gone by now," Hubert tried to reassure her.
But Fiona still felt uneasy.
"Alive or dead, we need to get to the bottom of this. The dead can't just die for nothing. I want the truth." With that, she hung up.
Fiona stood by the big window, staring at the city lights outside.
Yesterday, she randomly thought of visiting Brooke's grave and then ran into Vespera. It felt like something was pushing her to uncover the truth from back then.
That night, Fiona didn't sleep well.
Half-asleep, she saw the late Marisole and Aiden. They were in a cozy house, Aiden resting his head on Marisole's lap while she gently urged him to take his meds. Medicine bottles were scattered on the coffee table.
But Fiona always felt like there was someone watching them in that warm scene.
Then she woke up with a start.
Whenever she woke up, she always checked on her kids first.
Only after making sure they were sleeping soundly could she relax and lie back down.
She did this several times throughout the night.
The next day, Fiona felt a bit off.
With Christopher at the hotel, the Blacksmith family behaved themselves, and the night went by without any drama.
Vespera's health had been really bad over the past year, especially after hearing about Brooke's death.
The family had already prepared for this and bought her a burial plot.
After Vespera was buried, the vibe among the Blacksmith family members subtly shifted.
With Vespera gone, it was time to deal with the estate and the will!
Back at the Blacksmith Mansion, Fiona showed up with Chicago and Charles.
The Blacksmith family members greeted them warmly.
Fiona looked around and noticed a few new faces in the crowd.
"Mrs. Solomon, I've heard so much about you!" A young guy eagerly extended his hand.
Fiona looked at Emrys. "Who's this? I didn't see him at the funeral or at the cemetery."
The young guy's face changed slightly at that.
Emrys said, "This is Jasper."
Fiona immediately knew who it was—the Jasper who wanted the house in Bay City and Vespera's jewelry.
