Chapter 629 Who Wears a Crown Must Bear Its Weight?

The art exhibition was slated to run for a week, yet due to school commitments, Chicago herself could only attend for the first three days. Today marked the final day of her presence.

Fiona and Darwin had ramped up security measures, already stringent as they were, akin to an ironclad fortress. Stricter checks awaited anyone entering or exiting, with strict prohibitions against anything that could pose as a weapon. This inevitably stirred complaints online.

At that juncture, anything remotely linked to Fiona's family could ignite into a wildfire of attention. Among the gripes, one blog post from a minor internet personality gained traction.

"I’m all for eco-friendliness, always carry my own utensils when dining out. Been to countless exhibitions and never barred from bringing in cutlery! And those guards, so hostile. Does being an Old Money scion grant some superior status?"

Accompanying the post were pictures portraying the guards as imposing and unfriendly, fueling the controversy further.

Initially, the internet celebrity's fans flooded the comments, lambasting the organizers and Chicago. However, as the post gained momentum, sentiments shifted.

[Let’s set aside the guards’ demeanor for now. A huge pop-up window warned against bringing certain items before ticket purchase. Refusing to abide by rules isn’t justified. Who do you think you are?]

The commentator attached a screenshot of said window, showcasing clear directives against sharp objects like knives and forks. This revelation tilted the tide of opinions, catching even the internet celebrity off guard.

Unable to stem the tide of criticism, the internet celebrity deleted the post, concluding with, [Can’t afford to ruffle Old Money feathers, I’ll stay mum.] She presumed the matter settled, but fate had other plans.

Shortly after, a renowned interior designer uploaded a video, tagging the internet celebrity. [Had my wife not witnessed your antics at the exhibition today, these guards would have been falsely accused!]

In the video, the internet celebrity was pointing at several security guards and insulting them as capitalists' lapdogs. She also criticized the lousy exhibition and said she wouldn't have come if not for her fans' request. She used such offensive language, but the security guards remained unmoved.

Seeing that they didn't react and had cold expressions, the internet celebrity became even angrier. She directly opened her M-video account to show the security guards her number of fans. "I have over a million fans. Don't you see how despicable you are? Are you trying to make me lose face? I demand to hear from you right now, whether you will let me in or not!"

The security guard coldly replied, “After depositing the items you shouldn't bring in, you can enter with your ticket.”

The internet celebrity exploded immediately. She raised her hand, ready to scratch their faces. However, the three security guards swiftly dodged. One of them became angry at her action, which led to the internet celebrity posting a few pictures of the ferocious-looking security guards online.

After the video was released, the internet celebrity's previous claims were completely overturned. However, about the designer, there were still some foolish comments saying, [Honestly, is there a need for such strict security checks at an art exhibition? We pay money to go there and yet have to be searched like criminals. If it were me, I would feel uncomfortable too.]

The designer replied, [Firstly, they put up a big pop-up window before you bought the ticket to remind you. If you feel offended, you can simply choose not to go. Secondly, why don't you search online and see how many death threats there have been against the kid since her parents were exposed? If her parents are being cautious, I think it's justified.]

[Oh my, death threats? Are these internet users crazy? How old is she?]

[Indeed, some people are exaggerating. This is a screenshot I took two nights ago at the Genius Young Painter's Square.] The attached picture showed a threat of death to Chicago.

Regarding the designer's response, internet users had varying opinions.

Most people were angry and supportive of the Darwin couple. But there were still some idiots who felt the need to show their lack of intelligence.

[LOL, the Old Money want to market their genius children but then complain about being watched. They should just be more low-key.] someone commented below the post.

Someone replied, [It's not their fault that they were born at the top of the pyramid with natural talents. How can you expect them to be low-key?]

Another person said, [If you want to wear the crown, you have to bear its weight. It's the weight of the crown, not the pressure from you losers!]

Someone was shocked and responded, [You're sympathizing with a psycho who threatens to kill five or six-year-old kids. I've already sent screenshots of your comments to your mutual friends. You're terrifying!]

The person replied, [I was just kidding. So you sent screenshots of my comments to our social circle? Are you crazy?]

After that, the person deleted his comment.

Although there was chaos on the internet due to security issues, the atmosphere at the art exhibition remained positive. As usual, Chicago shared some of her painting inspiration with the visitors and answered many questions, even the challenging ones, with finesse.

Fiona stood in the corner, looking gentle and proud. She occasionally glanced at the time, unsure if Darwin would make it on time. Charles sat beside Fiona, playing sudoku.

"Chicago mentioned if you can’t make it today, she’ll come back tomorrow," Fiona relayed to Charles.

"Really?" Charles affirmed.

Fiona messaged Darwin, reassuring him: "Your daughter said if you can’t make it today, she’ll return tomorrow. No rush."

Meanwhile, Darwin's car neared Bay City, him absorbing the tumult online, including threats against Charles and Chicago.

"These folks are cruel. If we confront them, they'll back down," Henry offered reassurance, noticing Darwin's concern.

Darwin grimaced, "Charles and Chicago are under intense scrutiny lately. It’s worrisome."

"With you, Secretary Woods, and their innate talents, attention's inevitable," Henry acknowledged.

Following the incident with Charles, Darwin’s PR team diligently worked to minimize the kids' appearance in the limelight.
