Chapter 1324
Fiona was just a stand-in; she didn't dare to ask about such things.
Later, she overheard Anniston saying, "Darwin's had trouble sleeping since he was a kid. One time, I even heard him call out Aiden's name in his sleep. The next day, I had someone pray for Darwin. Aiden must have died a horrible death and held a grudge. Seeing Darwin's intelligence and talent, he got jealous and started haunting him!"
Fiona was freaked out when she heard this.
She made it a point to find out how Aiden had died.
For the next week, Fiona couldn't sleep because she was so scared.
Darwin, after finishing his tasks, would hold her and sleep soundly.
Now, all these things started to make sense.
Hubert said, "He had a brief episode of asphyxiation today due to emotional reasons. Mike should be telling you about it soon."
"Asphyxiation?" Fiona's heart skipped a beat.
Hubert replied, "Yeah, it's common for patients like him to have these episodes. There are always highly professional medical staff outside his room, and they're very experienced with this. Plus, Darwin's biggest emotional issue has surfaced, so I don't think it'll happen again."
Fiona clutched her chest.
She wasn't one to cause trouble, so she naturally wouldn't make things difficult for Hubert over this.
"Given the current situation, how much longer does Mr. Graham estimate he will need for treatment?" Fiona paused for a moment. "Will he be able to come home before the end of the year?" she asked.
Hubert said, "His wish is to be home for the holidays. My team, Darwin, and I will do our best."
Fiona said, "Thank you."
She paused again and said, "I'll have someone bring some of his favorite fruits to Cyberia tomorrow."
Hubert replied, "Darwin will be very happy."
After hanging up the phone, Fiona's chest still ached.
Stella was still praying for Mason.
Ashton jogged over to Fiona. "Why are you clutching your chest? Are you feeling unwell?"
Fiona gently shook her head and then looked at the sky. "I hope the holidays come soon this year."
"The holidays aren't until February next year." Ashton also glanced at the sky.
Fiona replied, "Yeah, not until February next year."
Stella wasn't in a good mood today. After leaving the church, she went straight back to Emerald Pool to sleep.
Fiona had some rare free time today.
She suddenly remembered that she hadn't visited Brooke's grave since the burial.
Thinking about all the recent events, Fiona took Christopher and headed straight to Nova Vista.
Not long after leaving Bay City, the weather turned gloomy. Raindrops hit the window, and even with the heater on in the car, Fiona felt a chill in her bones.
Christopher could tell Fiona was in a bad mood.
He stayed silent the whole way, trying to be invisible.
Halfway there, Fiona suddenly remembered something. "Do you know what's been happening with the Elysium royal family lately?"
Christopher responded, "It's been all over the news, so yeah."
Because of Simon's death, Simon's family had always held a grudge against the Queen. Last month, they even tried to assassinate her at a family gathering.
The Queen was severely injured but survived after a difficult rescue.
As a result, Simon's family was completely finished.
Not only were they all arrested and imprisoned, but there were also rumors that Simon's mother and brother had been secretly executed.
"They claim it was for Simon," Christopher sneered, "but in reality, they were just looking for a new heir who would support them. Everyone knows they've offended several wealthy families in Armie, and the Queen has had enough of their antics."
"At least now you and Charlotte are safe," Fiona said calmly.
