Chapter 871
Just like that, under Stella's persistent persuasion, Alexander agreed to stay as a volunteer in the church before going to North Alabama.
There were quite a few volunteers in the church.
In reality, there wasn't much work for each person to do.
During their free time, Alexander would walk around the church with Stella.
Over the past ten years, many things had changed, but the church remained much the same. Just some small trees had grown, and some flowers and plants had been replaced.
After two days, Stella and Mason became more acquainted.
Mason was not very patient, and he was relatively young.
Stella bought an ice cream for Mason, and the two sat in the rarely-visited backyard enjoying it.
Suddenly, Mason sighed. "Father Thomas really misses Alexander."
The joy Stella felt while eating the ice cream with Alexander on her back disappeared in an instant. She asked, "Who told you that?"
"Before, when Father Thomas was seriously ill, Liam heard him mumbling and calling for Alexander while he was bedside at the hospital." Mason sighed again.
"If that's the case, why doesn't Father Thomas want to meet him?" Stella complained while eating the ice cream, puzzled.
"The adult world is always full of inexplicable reasons." Mason shook his head, looking wise beyond his years.
Stella deep in thought, continued eating her ice cream.
"Mason, where does Father Thomas live? I've been here for a few days and haven't seen him once," Stella asked.
Mason became alert immediately and said, "Stella, do you really want to barge into Father Thomas's place? That's too bold!"
"Do I look like that kind of person?" Stella was speechless.
The look in Mason's eyes was so sharp that it pierced the heart!
"You managed to help Alexander reintegrate into society. Do you still think you're a good person?" Mason asked mercilessly.
Stella was astonished and was about to reply when her phone rang. It was Alexander.
At this moment, Alexander should be discussing the Bible with the believers.
Stella listened while dozing off. She decided to go out and play with Mason.
Feeling guilty, Stella hid the ice cream behind her back and answered Alexander's call. "Alexander, are you done chatting?"
"Where are you?" Alexander asked gently.
"I'm playing with Mason. Stay put. I'll come to you!" Stella said, hung up, and quickly finished the rest of her ice cream.
"Let's keep the ice cream-eating a secret, okay?" Stella drank another cup of coffee, trying to get rid of the cold feeling in her mouth.
Mason was speechless.
He always liked to listen to the believers chat.
People said men were afraid of their wives, right? But why did it seem like Stella was the one afraid of Alexander?
Mason said, "You look just like those husbands who sneak a smoke and then hurriedly put it out when caught by their wives."
"You're quite good at sarcasm!" Stella said.
It was exactly as Mason had said.
Stella didn't argue with Mason and promptly returned to find Alexander.
Mason sat on the steps, slowly finishing the ice cream before getting up to leave.
