Chapter 816 Very Reliable
Fiona could feel Eleanor's fear and confusion.
Eleanor was almost strangled by her mother. She didn't come home for a few days, and her father and grandmother completely ignored her.
Eleanor's ability to make such a choice showed how sad she was.
She only felt fear toward her family, without a hint of love.
"After you finish crying, you have to start preparing to go abroad," Fiona gently wiped away Eleanor's tears and said, "I will take care of the rest for you."
"Aunt Fiona, I will be sensible. I will remember every penny you and Uncle Darwin spent on me, and when I grow up, I will repay you!" Eleanor trembled all over.
Maybe she had cried miserably; the bruises on her neck were even more shocking.
"We'll talk about these things later," Fiona's tone softened a bit more, saying, "Think about where you want to go."
Eleanor calmed down a lot, sniffled a few times, and then said with some embarrassment, "I don't really understand these things... can you help me choose?"
"How about this? I will pick a few countries, and then you can learn about their customs in your spare time and choose one you like, Okay?" Fiona suggested.
Eleanor nodded gently.
No wonder Chicago was always so happy; her father loved her very much, and her mother was so gentle.
Thinking about it, Eleanor recalled the look of hatred in Ms. Dashwood's eyes when Ms. Dashwood was choking her.
"Aunt Fiona," Eleanor trembled and called out.
"Yes?" Fiona responded.
Eleanor lowered her eyelids, tears welling up again, asking, "Can you... can you hug me?"
She paused for a moment and then cried out, "My mother has never hugged me before."
Fiona's heart sank.
She really felt that some people in this world were not worthy of being anyone's parents.
If they were to have a child, but all they could bring to the child was pain, then why did they give birth to a kid?
What was the difference between that and doing evil?
Fiona didn't answer; she gently hugged Eleanor, her palm patting her back, saying, "Eleanor, we can't choose our parents when we are born, but we can choose what our future will be like. You are still very young, and the years ahead are long. You can live the way you like, be bright if you like, and be quiet if you like. Don't let your parents be your shackles; fly bravely."
Eleanor sobbed, nodding repeatedly, and hesitated before hugging Fiona back.
After Fiona and Eleanor discussed it, Fiona sent her back to the principal.
The principal usually scolded students with hands on hips or frantically caught them making mistakes in school, but today was different.
The principal, with red eyes, was probably shocked and heartbroken when he saw the bruises on Eleanor's neck.
"Fiona, really... I don't know what to say; it was Ethan before, now it's Eleanor... you are a good person, a great person; God will surely bless you and your family and friends!" the principal choked out.
The principal was sure that if no one intervened, Eleanor would not be able to return to school at the beginning of the next semester with the current situation in Eleanor's family.
When he saw Eleanor just now, he even felt that it was questionable whether Eleanor could come back alive.
"Eleanor, you go on the car first. Fiona and I will talk about Chicago's matters; it will be quick!" The principal looked at Eleanor and spoke.
Eleanor nodded, then bowed to Fiona, wiped away her tears, and got in the car.
"What's wrong?" Fiona looked at the principal and asked.
"I'm afraid that the method your husband mentioned before won't work," the principal said in a deep voice. Although the Dashwood family hates Eleanor deeply, they will definitely not let Eleanor go abroad to study!"
"They don't need to pay..." Fiona's voice just fell, and she suddenly realized something.
"If she goes out, they can't control her anymore. She can grow up a bit more in the country... and can make some money," the principal said cruelly.
Fiona just remembered that Benjamin's hometown was the poorest town; a woman could fetch $30,000 through marriage.
"I understand. You just prepare for Eleanor's study abroad; I will take care of the rest," Fiona said gently.
The principal immediately felt relieved.
Fiona was the kind of person who naturally made people trust her.
Just a gentle word from Fiona made the principal feel that things were under control!
"Thank you! Thank you very much!" the principal said.
"You're welcome. Actually, Chicago is very worried about Eleanor's situation. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to do this," Fiona said truthfully.
Ethan and Eleanor's situations were different.
Ethan saved Chicago's life.
There was really no bond between Eleanor and Fiona.
"Chicago is the best child!" the principal said sincerely.
Chicago not only cares for her classmates but also cares for the teachers.
Several teachers who taught her in school have said that when they were on the verge of emotional breakdown, Chicago could sense it and bring them healing.
"However..." the principal's tone changed, and then he said seriously, "When you go back, you have to talk to her. Before handing in the paper, she must check it carefully. Those misspelled words and the math problems must be solved first—she forgot last time—two solutions, four points!"
Fiona looked at the principal, pounding his chest and stomping his feet, and said with a smile, "I got it; I will definitely talk to her when I go back!"
"Just talk gently, no need to be too harsh," the principal added.
Fiona nodded and said, "Okay, you should take Eleanor back for lunch; she hasn't eaten."
"Then I'll go! Wait for your good news!" the principal said.
After the principal left, Fiona sighed in relief.
The principal was really different from the legendary headmaster.
Every time he looked at her with earnest and sincere eyes, Fiona always felt that she should do something good.
"Madam, are we going straight back?" Christopher asked.
Fiona looked at the time and said, "No, I don't want to spend too much time on this matter; just call Eleanor's family out directly."
"Understood!"
Just as they were talking, Fiona's phone rang; it was Darwin.
Darwin had just woken up from a nap, and Fiona was gone.
"Are you awake?" Fiona's voice was gentle.
"Yeah, did you go to the company?" Darwin asked.
"I'll tell you when I get back; the physiotherapist will come soon; I'll try to get back before your therapy ends." Fiona responded gently.
"No rush, take your time; I can manage on my own." Darwin replied.
"Okay."
After hanging up, Fiona went straight to the car.
At Benjamin's house.
Meanwhile, Benjamin nodded and ended Christopher's call.
"Who is it?" a woman in her sixties, who looked very sharp and sarcastic, asked while eating sliced fruit.
