Chapter 676 She Had No Appetite At All.

Fiona looked at her young daughter and gently stroked Chicago's tender cheek, saying softly, "Didn't mommy say it? Daddy's mission at this time is very difficult, and it might take a long time. If Chicago misses him, just send him a message, and once he sees it, he will call you back."

"Like how I sent one to Uncle Stuart before?" Chicago's mood instantly dropped.

"Well, he's working hard and earning money so that mommy can have an easier time. I understand."

Fiona gently hugged Chicago. "All right, I will go see how the Christmas dinner preparations are going. You and Jessie and Charlotte can keep playing." "Okay!" Fiona let go of Chicago and was about to head toward the villa when Chicago suddenly grabbed her hand. Fiona looked at her and asked, "Baby, what's wrong?"

"Mama, I want to learn martial arts from Miss Charlotte!" Chicago said seriously, "I want to protect the kids and Mommy too!"

"Didn't Uncle Stuart teach you before?" Fiona asked.

"They always thought of me as fragile, so they didn't dare teach me anything. But I didn't even cry when I got bumped. Instead, they were the ones crying and worrying about me! But those wounds don't even need a band-aid; they heal in no time," Chicago said.

Chicago thought about the exaggerated behavior of Stuart and Mike sometimes and felt helpless on the inside.

"Does Charlotte want to teach?" Fiona asked Charlotte.

Charlotte nodded. "It's good for Chicago to learn some self-defense."

Both Chicago and Charles were too fragile.

Chicago was doing fine, playing crazily every day.

Because of what happened to Darwin, Charles stayed in his room all day and rarely talked to anyone...

Charles was the one who needed to learn some self-defense the most.

"Charles should learn too!" Charlotte added.

Fiona's heart sank when Charles was mentioned.

Charles was always silent, and now he became even more silent because of what happened to his father.

"Charles is not easily persuaded. If you want him to come out and learn, you have to persuade him yourselves," Fiona said afterward.

"Yay!" Chicago was extremely happy.

Fiona watched as she stopped playing with the dogs and quickly ran to find her brother.

"Madam, even though I'm just a child, there's something I don't quite agree with your approach," Charlotte's voice sounded from behind Fiona.

Fiona glanced at her.

"You shouldn't keep this from Chicago; she will find out sooner or later," Charlotte said in a deep voice.

Fiona lowered her eyelids. "Chicago has been looking forward to this Christmas for a long time. I want her to have a happy Christmas, and we can deal with the rest later."

Charlotte hesitated for a moment. "I shouldn't have said that."

"No." Fiona pulled the corner of her mouth and gently touched Charlotte's head. "Thank you for thinking about Chicago like this."

Whenever Fiona praised Charlotte, she would feel awkward and embarrassed.

Charlotte lowered her eyes and mumbled, "I will always think of her."

Fiona smiled knowingly.

This year was the first Christmas after Thalassa and Kenny got married.

Fiona didn't let Thalassa stay.

At this moment, Thalassa was already with the Walker family in North Alabama.

The Walker family arrived very organized, and all came to see the bride. Everyone was very enthusiastic. The gifts almost filled Kenny's room. However, Thalassa wasn’t happy. After socializing with relatives, Thalassa immediately called Burl in her room. "Has Fiona arrived?"

"She has. She's in the kitchen preparing Christmas dinner with Janna," Burl replied in a low voice.

"You focus on dealing with the relatives. Someone is secretly watching over her wherever she goes, so she'll be safe."

"Okay, keep her happy. I'll be back right after Christmas!" Thalassa hastily said.

"Got it!" Burl no longer bothered to persuade Thalassa.

Thalassa hung up the phone and lowered her head again. Kenny came in from outside, holding Thalassa's favorite pastries. "Are you still worried about Fiona?" Kenny placed the food on a small table and sat beside Thalassa.

Thalassa slumped into Kenny's arms. "What is fate playing at? They finally let go of their past grievances, and now everything is going well." Thalassa choked up and immediately covered her eyes.

Kenny let out a gentle sigh. "Sweetheart, let's not think about it for now. You haven't eaten much today. How about having a few pieces of the Tiramisu you like? It was just made." Kenny soothingly coaxed Thalassa.

Thalassa glanced at the Tiramisu. She used to be able to eat a whole plate in one go, but now she had no appetite at all.

"I want to eat oranges," Thalassa mumbled. Kenny immediately peeled an Australian orange and fed it to her.

Thalassa ate a few segments and felt a little more comfortable. "Kenny, how about I go back by myself the day after tomorrow, and you stay here to spend Christmas with Mom and Dad?"

"They don't like me spending Christmas with them," Kenny said helplessly.

"I'll go back with you. Once Solomon starts working again, things might get chaotic with my sister-in-law. I'll go over it early to discuss it with her and see if there's anything we can help with."

"Okay." Thalassa nodded.

Kenny fed her another segment of orange.

The time for the Christmas dinner came quickly. For some reason, tonight felt a little quieter compared to previous years. Thalassa was gone, but there were two more children. It should have been livelier. However, Fiona couldn't shake off a sense of emptiness in her heart. She thought about the plans for her family of four's first Christmas that Darwin had talked about, and her heart felt heavy.

Suddenly, Fiona remembered something.

During their parting, her last words to Darwin were, "I will never forgive you again." Darwin was terrified of this, yet she still spoke without restraint.

"Mommy." Charles' voice sounded beside her.

Fiona immediately composed herself and put on a smile. "Did Charlotte look for you?"

Charles did not answer.

He just took hold of Fiona's hand.

Fiona's nose tingled.

"Uncle Xavier said that Daddy prepared fireworks, and they have already been delivered. After we finish eating, we will go out together to watch," Charles said softly.

Xavier made a big mistake and allowed the boss to be taken captive right beside him.

The situation was uncertain, with the boss's life hanging in the balance.

Xavier no longer had the face to see Fiona.

"Okay." Fiona crouched down and gently touched Charles' cheek, unable to hide the tears in her eyes, "This is a Christmas gift that Daddy gave us. We'll watch it happily later, okay?"

Charles nodded.

Then Charles opened his arms and gently embraced Fiona.

"Don't be afraid, Mummy. My sister and I will always be with you," he whispered in Fiona's ear.

Fiona closed her eyes and tightly hugged Charles.

Chicago was sneaking a bite to eat with Charlotte in the restaurant.

Chicago turned around and saw this scene.

She was utterly bewildered.

Then she told Charlotte, "Sister, let's not force our brother to learn how to fight. Just look. I only mentioned it briefly, and he felt so much pressure that he needed Mommy's hug to feel better." "
