Chapter 1311
Wyatt took a moment to gather his thoughts.
He used to be a straight shooter, no tricks up his sleeve.
Lucian had always looked out for him, but it was more about spoiling him, which was pretty sad if you think about it.
"Great! Just great!" Lucian finally stopped yelling.
He wobbled a bit, then slowly made his way to the sofa and plopped down. "You win."
Wyatt replied, "You and I have never been on the same level, so there's no winning or losing here."
Lucian looked up, his eyes full of bitterness and spite.
"Fine, you're better than me," he said, each word dripping with resentment, "I admit it!"
Wyatt didn't care if Lucian admitted it or not; it wouldn't change a thing now.
"You know, we're family!" Lucian went on, "Believe it or not, your father's removal was a board decision. You shouldn't hate me for it!"
Wyatt stayed silent, curious about what story Lucian would spin next.
"I hope you can go to the economic investigation department and drop those cases," Lucian finally got to the point.
"Why?" Wyatt asked.
"Wyatt, you can't have too many enemies in this world. How do you know one of them won't surpass you and become a threat?"
"So I'll take the Durham group to a place where even if they surpass me, they can't reach," Wyatt said slowly, "The Durham group was up there too, but you and my father dragged it down."
Wyatt didn't shy away from the mess Gideon had made of the company over the years.
"Are you really going to push me to the edge, Wyatt?" Lucian's hand gripped the armrest of the sofa.
Several days had passed. The economic investigation department should have found him by now.
Lucian was on edge every day, but there was no news at all.
These days were pure torture for him.
He'd rather face Wyatt's wrath head-on than endure this.
"Uncle Lucian, I can give you a way out, and I've given them a way out too." Wyatt paced around.
"What?"
"Pay back the money." Wyatt suddenly smiled, remembering something. "About six years ago, around this time, I went to Phantasia with an old man who was really good at his job to help the Solomon group catch corrupt members. That day was a blast. Those who took money from the Solomon group cried and begged to return it one by one."
Lucian looked miserable.
Wyatt's gaze returned to him. "I want to experience that kind of fun again, so I decided to relive the past. If you and your friends pay back the money, it's okay if it's not enough. After I verify it, I can write an IOU. Of course, I'll charge interest at the normal market rate. Once the money is in hand, everyone will be safe. How about it? You won't lose, right? After all, it was the Durham group's money. You used it for years, living the high life with cars, houses, and beautiful women."
Wyatt wanted him to pay back the money with interest.
"I don't have that much money!" Lucian said, "There's an estate on the outskirts of the capital city, worth seven or eight hundred million dollars. I'll give it to you to offset the debt!"
"I don't want that." Wyatt waved his hand. "Uncle Lucian, I have all the info on your overseas accounts. No need to play poor. If the money's not enough, use shares as collateral!"
"Don't even think about touching my shares. They were given to me by my father!" Lucian snapped.
"In court, it'll end the same way." Wyatt tilted his head and looked at Lucian. "Uncle Lucian, you can't escape this."
"You're too much!" Lucian had tried to keep his cool, hoping to find a way out by yielding to Wyatt.
Wyatt used to be a kind-hearted guy.
