Chapter 1326

Brooke was always super nice to Fiona.

So, no matter what Brooke did to others, Fiona just couldn't badmouth her.

The light rain drizzled on the tombstone, making Brooke's face look kinda blurry.

"I don't even know why I'm here, but I felt like I needed to talk to you," Fiona said, staring at Brooke's smiling face.

She had a ton of questions swirling in her head.

But Brooke was gone, and those questions would never get answered.

Brooke was such a puzzle.

She seemed pretty wicked, but she also pulled people like Aldrich out of the dumps, giving them a fresh start.

She also raised Rose and Hubert.

And she was especially kind to Fiona.

But she also mentally and physically tormented Aiden for years, leading to a tragedy that couldn't be undone.

Fiona really wanted to ask Brooke why she did all those things back then.

She was harsh on Aiden but spoiled Nathaniel, turning him into a lazy kid.

In the end, Fiona just stared at Brooke's photo, telling herself that the dead were gone, and turned to leave.

Christopher saw this and quickly ran over to take the umbrella from Fiona's hand. "Mrs. Solomon, it's getting late. Let's grab a bite before we head back, or you'll miss dinner."

"Okay," Fiona replied.

Just as they were about to leave, an elderly woman approached them unsteadily, supported by a young boy. "Are you Darwin's wife?" she suddenly asked Fiona as they passed by.

Fiona stopped and looked at her.

Christopher immediately went on high alert.

Not all assassins were as skilled and strong as he was.

He'd seen a horrible case before.

The attackers were a ten-year-old kid and an elderly person in their sixties, taking advantage of the family's sympathy for the weak. They waltzed into the home and wiped out the entire household in just five minutes.

At that moment, Fiona carefully examined the elderly woman; she did look kinda familiar.

"Vespera Blacksmith," Vespera said.

Fiona's memory clicked. Vespera was the maid who had taken care of Brooke the longest. When Brooke was a teenager, Vespera was also a teenager and had been by Brooke's side since then.

Vespera followed Brooke into the Solomon family when she got married.

For decades, wherever Brooke was, Vespera was there.

Until Brooke developed Alzheimer's, Vespera had been her dedicated caretaker. As Vespera grew older and couldn't look after Brooke anymore, Darwin let her retire.

Vespera went back to her hometown to spend her remaining years with her kids.

Previously, to figure out Aiden's situation, Fiona's people had gone to find her.

But Vespera didn't remember much, spoke little and incoherently, and didn't provide much useful info.

She only made it clear to Fiona that Aldrich had gone to see Brooke twice before he died, and both times were unpleasant.

"Vespera, are you here to see Grandma?" Fiona asked gently.

Vespera cleared her throat a couple of times, looking anything but confused. "I dreamed of Mrs. Mitchell last night. I guess she missed me, so I had Emrys Blacksmith bring me to see her."

Emrys politely greeted, "Mrs. Solomon."

Vespera looked at Fiona with loving eyes, full of smiles. "I told Mrs. Mitchell back then that Mr. Solomon treated Ms. Woods differently from others."
