Chapter 1261

Over the past couple of years, AI tech has been booming, and it's hit a lot of tech industries pretty hard.

The branch Fiona was visiting today was no exception. They'd been struggling for six straight quarters, and this year, they hit a jaw-dropping 300% loss.

The Solomon Group has a whole department dedicated to checking up on its branches.

Last month, the HQ got wind of this mess and ordered a self-examination.

Fiona was here to see how that went.

The employees at the branch were actually relieved it was Fiona coming and not Darwin. It felt like the axe hanging over their heads had been lifted.

They were mostly tech-focused, so they didn't deal with HQ much.

They still thought of Fiona as 'Ms. Woods.'

Even though they'd heard about some of her tough moves earlier this year, they hadn't felt the heat themselves.

When they talked about her, they'd say, "She's just a woman."

In the conference room, Fiona had just taken her seat.

The department head stood up with a smile. "Mrs. Solomon, thanks for coming. We've been doing a self-exam for the past two weeks, and there are no internal issues. You know, the Solomon Group AI's growth is booming, and it overlaps too much with our main operations."

"So, your self-exam says the problem is with the Solomon Group AI, huh?" Fiona looked up, expressionless, and cut him off. "To save your sinking performance, do you want me to shut down the Solomon Group AI?"

The guy was stunned but quickly kept his smile. "That's not what I meant."

He glanced at Henry and the others for backup.

"Mr. Winchester, there's no Mrs. Solomon here, only Ms. Woods," Henry said sternly, "We're not here to chat; we're here to address your ongoing losses. Take this seriously."

Jam's smile faded. He sat down, frustrated.

Fiona leaned back, looking at the supervisors and managers, her fingers tapping slowly on the table.

After about five minutes, the room went from relaxed to tense, with cold sweat forming on foreheads.

Then, they heard Fiona's calm, almost friendly-sounding question. "So, do all of you agree with Mr. Winchester's statement?"

Everyone started talking.

"Even if it sounds like passing the buck, the Solomon Group AI's model has really hit us hard."

"Yeah, Ms. Woods, look at our past business. Before the Solomon Group AI, we brought a lot of value to the company!"

Fiona listened intently, saying nothing.

When the chatter died down, she finally spoke slowly, "But who can you blame for being born in such a fast-paced info age? If you stand still, someone else will zoom past you. Just because of AI, you can only complain and fall behind? What kind of excuse is that?"

"Not to mention, ten years ago, a top global phone brand got bought out cheap because they didn't innovate. Now, they're gone," Henry added, "They could also say other brands squeezed their market, leading to their downfall. But does it matter? If you're bankrupt, you're a loser. If this is what you've got after two weeks, then this meeting's over."
