Chapter 2271
Fiona wrapped her arms around Darwin's waist. "I got an idea."
"Go ahead, honey," Darwin replied with a warm smile.
"How about we engrave their names on the tombstone?"
Darwin paused, thinking it over. "It's been ages, hardly anyone remembers them. But yeah, engraving their names sounds good."
"Next time, let's bring Charles and Chicago along."
Darwin was a bit surprised. "You sure that's okay?"
"Why wouldn't it be?" Fiona looked at him, her eyes saying, 'Isn't that the right thing to do?'
She wanted Darwin to understand.
His background wasn't something to hide or be ashamed of.
"How should I introduce them?" Darwin asked, a bit uneasy. "Grandpa and Grandma?"
"Introduce them however you feel comfortable," Fiona gently stroked his back. "It's not a big deal, and there's no rush. You've got plenty of time to figure it out."
As they chatted, they headed to the cemetery's office.
They arranged for someone to handle the engraving on the tombstone.
A few days later, the cemetery manager sent Fiona a message on Facebook.
The tombstone had been engraved as requested.
[The grave of Aiden and Marisole, buried together.]
After paying their respects to Aiden and Marisole, it was still early, so Fiona and Darwin decided to play tourists for a bit.
They wandered around, grabbed some food, and by the afternoon, they drove back to Bay City.
After resting at their apartment for a while, they rushed to the airport and boarded a flight back to Serene City.
By the time they arrived in Serene City, it was late at night.
The air was still stiflingly hot.
They braved the heat and got into the car that came to pick them up.
As the car door closed, Fiona let out a long breath. "The weather keeps getting hotter. Serene City wasn't this hot when I was a kid."
Darwin glanced out the window.
He suddenly said, "This is our first time coming to Serene City together."
Fiona was slightly taken aback. "Our first time?"
"Yeah," Darwin said with certainty.
Fiona thought for a moment.
It seemed to be true.
Even during the five years she worked as Darwin's secretary, she had accompanied him on business trips here.
The Solomon Group's Southwest Division headquarters were in a neighboring city.
Later, when things got rough between them, Darwin had come to Serene City a few times, but always alone.
"Maybe it's fate," Fiona said with a touch of sentiment. "Destiny arranged it so that after everything settled, I could bring you home."
After Darwin went missing at sea.
Fiona had thought that once Darwin was found, she would bring him home to meet his family.
After all, it was something he had longed for.
The house on Sesame Alley had been uninhabited for years and was in a state of disrepair.
Fiona felt that since they were coming home, it wouldn't be right to stay in a hotel, so she had the small house redesigned and renovated.
Construction started in February last year.
It was completed by the end of the year.
After letting it sit for a while, it was finally ready to move into.
As the car drove near Sesame Alley, Darwin recognized the area.
During the five years Fiona was gone.
He had almost lived in Serene City, and the hotels he stayed at were mostly near Sesame Alley.
So, he was very familiar with the area.
At first, Darwin thought Fiona had booked a hotel nearby.
But the car drove straight into Sesame Alley.
