Chapter 561 Get Your Head Out of The Clouds

After listening, Thalassa was dumbfounded.

"I kind of remember..." Thalassa lowered her eyelids.

There weren't many times she had taken Chicago to the small park.

Thinking back to when she fell asleep from exhaustion in the park, the only time that came to mind was during those first couple of days after she broke up with Chris.

"I remember now, Chicago mentioned meeting a handsome, strange mister!" Thalassa exclaimed. "It wasn't you, was it?"

Kenny thought for a moment and said, "That morning, the park was full of old folks, so if you're talking about a handsome, strange mister... then I guess that was me."

"Oh my God!" Thalassa was incredibly surprised.

She had been so tired that day.

As she dozed off in the grass, Chicago told her, "Godmother Mom, there's a handsome, strange mister watching you."

Chicago was always into good looks since she was little.

When she was even younger, there had been a time when a maid had taken her eyes off her for just a moment, and she had followed the pretty neighbor home.

Since then, whenever anyone heard words like ‘pretty sister’ or ‘pretty aunt’ out of Chicago's mouth, they would be extra cautious.

Thalassa sat up.

She glanced in the direction Chicago had pointed.

Indeed, she saw a man leaving the park with a tall figure.

However, to her, he seemed just like anyone there for a run, just happening to pass by.

At that time, Thalassa was still nursing a broken heart.

All men and women, she couldn't see them clearly.

Seeing that the man had walked away, she embraced the grass-speckled Chicago and gently laid them back on the lawn.

"Chicago, my dear, we can't always be so shallow, concerned with good-looking uncles or brothers every day. Why don't you ever compliment your beautiful godmother?" she teased.

Chicago tried to wriggle free from her arms but couldn't manage to escape.

Eventually, it seemed like it was Chicago who had to coax her for a long time to leave the grassy ground and go home because both of them had grass in their hair.

Fiona was quite angry.

"So, this is the secret between you and Chicago?" Thalassa realized belatedly.

Kenny nodded with a smile.

"No wonder Chicago was so surprised when she first met you. I thought she was just stunned by your good looks," Thalassa mumbled.

Kenny laughed heartily.

Naturally, when he confided in Thalassa about this, he omitted the depth of his growing disdain for the world at that time. There was no necessity to revisit those somber, burdensome aspects of the past and cause Thalassa undue worry or distress.

"What happened after that?" Thalassa playfully slapped his back, feigning annoyance, urging Kenny to continue.

"After that?" Kenny began after leaving the park. In less than half a day, he obtained detailed information about Thalassa to the point he found out which class Thalassa was in during kindergarten.

The investigation into her and Chris's affair wasn't as tight as they imagined. The person conducting the investigation was very tactful and even provided information related to Chris.

After reviewing the material, Kenny couldn't help but think lowly of Chris's character. ‘How could Chris be worthy of Thalassa?’

Then, Kenny learned that Chris was arranging a matchmaking meeting with Crystal. The Ayre family had some influence and could give a sizable boost to Chris's career. Kenny's disdain for him grew. Chris was dangling around his own step-mother, Chicago, leveraging Thalassa's connections for gains, while courting the powerful and privileged Crystal. He wanted the best of both worlds without considering whether he was deserving or not.

Right then, Kenny decided to have someone arrange a land sale immediately.

On the third day after the chance encounter with Thalassa in the park, Kenny and Thalassa formally met in a private dining room in a restaurant.

"What if... my own desires cloud my judgment, and even knowing about Chris's rendezvous with another woman, I can't let go? What would you do?" Thalassa inquired.

Kenny looked at her and said honestly, "I've considered that possibility."

“If you are that kind of person, then it seems I was wrong about you,” Kenny replied truthfully.

Continue harboring that hatred for this world. Eventually, you’ll reach a tipping point and drift away from this troublesome world altogether.

"Kenny, you got a strong sense of principle?" Thalassa snorted.

She found Kenny's honesty refreshing, even though he seemed incapable of deceit.

"After that party, you were crouching on the sidewalk crying. I watched you for a long time," Kenny said, once again burying his head into Thalassa's neck.

"What crying? I wasn't crying. I was pouring out the water in my brain!" Thalassa defended herself with righteous indignation.

Kenny laughed immediately, and Thalassa laughed along.

It was a rough patch for her back then; having fought with her mother and been betrayed by her Chris.

Life seemed bleak; like a piece of garbage thrown on the ground.

If it weren't for Kenny picking her up, Thalassa didn't know what the heart-wrenching sadness would have done to her.

"Kenny." She softly called his name.

"Yes?"

"We're going to love each other for a lifetime," Thalassa stated solemnly.

Kenny hugged her tight and nodded vigorously. "Yeah."

After their relationship had matured, Kenny became even clingier.
He stuck close while getting dressed in the morning, and at meal times too.

When Thalassa went to work, he followed.

Thalassa indulged him, always yielding to his whims.

When Thalassa arrived at the office, the employees' eyes were drawn to Kenny, although they tried not to stare too blatantly.

"Is that Thalassa's husband?"

"What? That smart-looking guy with his head full of love?"

"Oh my, he looks even better in person than on the livestream!"

"He's so tall, must be around six foot three? Thalassa is five foot six and still looks so cute next to him!"

Everyone was discussing Kenny while Thalassa decided to just stand still.

"Go ahead and look all you want, am I going to eat you?" she asked.

The crowd instantly laughed, somewhat embarrassed.

"Let me officially introduce you all – this handsome guy is Kenny, my husband."

"Hi, brother-in-law."

Someone took the lead and shouted, and then the rest joined in, each calling out to him in their own way.

From the moment Thalassa introduced Kenny to her coworkers, Kenny's smile never faded.

"Hello everyone, I'll treat you all to some afternoon snacks later," he greeted.

Thalassa then took Kenny to her office.

Once the office door closed, the staff in the hall immediately started discussing.

"He seemed to be constantly immersed in thoughts of love, as his smile remained unwavering from the moment he began."

"This man, he radiates happiness as Thalassa's husband," one person remarked.

"Did you know they're in a May-December romance?" another chimed in.

"Right, what's the age gap, six years?" a third inquired.

"Thalassa always looks so young, anyway. They really are a perfect match when they stand together," the first person continued.

"I heard Kenny is the scion of the Walker family from North Alabama—is that true?"

"Of course, it's true. You can even find old photos of Kenny attending charity events with his parents online!"

"Thalassa really hit the jackpot snagging such a great guy!"

"And the best part is that Kenny is all about love!"

"I received insider information from a long-time employee of Thalassa's. Thalassa is a genuine romantic, according to them. While everyone was aware that Thalassa was in a relationship, no one suspected it was with her stepfather’s son. Over the years, Thalassa sacrificed a great deal for Matt, dedicating herself to projects and seeking investments, always prioritizing her beloved over her own company."

"If Thalassa's head is as filled with love as Kenny's, then I can relax. Two peas in a pod—their happiness is sure to skyrocket!"
