Chapter 573 Darwin, Please Be More Ambitious
The reason for the two names goes back to Fiona's grandfather.
As a child, Fiona heard her grandfather mention.
Before her mother, they had had another boy.
After hearing what Fiona said.
Darwin didn't hesitate at all.
"No change."
"No change?" Fiona was a bit surprised.
"Yeah." Darwin replied, "What's so good about the last name Soloman? Let's not change it!"
Ever since Darwin found out the secret of his own origin.
He always felt his last name was a monument of shame.
"Okay then," Fiona agreed, suddenly looking up and kissing Darwin's earlobe, "Honey, isn't it time to rest?"
Darwin buried his head in the crook of her neck.
His large hand gripped her slender waist.
"Sweetheart, let's not rest tonight..."
Fiona laughed.
Darwin then picked her up and headed straight for the bathroom.
In the age of the internet.
Everything comes and goes quickly.
It wasn't long before other explosive news took over the revelation that Secretary Woods and Fiona were the same person.
Except those obsessed with the couple's gossip, nobody mentioned it anymore.
After the dust settled.
The postponed Solomon Energy quarterly meeting could finally take place.
Early in the morning.
Fiona got dressed in a sharp business suit in the walk-in closet.
Still in pajamas and barefoot, Darwin came from the bedroom and clingily hugged Fiona from behind: "Are you really not letting me go with you?"
"Darwin, please be more ambitious, the complaints from the Solomon staff have reached my desk!" Fiona was exasperated.
Saying Darwin was a changed man was an understatement.
The Darwin of the past would work tirelessly, forgetting sleep and meals.
But now?
His daily passion was taking Charles and Chicago to and from their activities.
Then, spending time helping them with homework and crafts.
On weekends, he wouldn't touch work, dedicating his entire day to taking Charles and Chicago out for fun.
"Who?" Darwin bristled with dissatisfaction.
He had hired a top-notch management team, and he didn't need to be involved in the day-to-day affairs at Solomon, except for the very important ones.
"There are just a lot of complaints!"
Fiona patted his waist, "Later on, let Stuart handle the pickups and drop-offs of Charles and Chicago. You just focus on work. Go on a business trip when needed. Your wife and kids won't disappear in two days."
Yes. Darwin was now adamantly against business trips.
"We'll talk about it later," Darwin mumbled noncommittally, "Honey, you haven't kissed me yet today..."
Fiona,"..."
She turned away.
She cupped Darwin's cheeks and planted two firm kisses on him, "There, happy now? You big baby!"
Darwin was content.
He donned a jacket and went downstairs with Fiona for breakfast.
Because the kids need to go to school, Charles and Chicago were both up early.
Dressed in their school uniforms, they sat obediently in the dining room eating breakfast.
Fiona went over to each of them and kissed their foreheads.
"Mommy, the cherry tomatoes this morning are from Uncle Stuart's garden!" Chicago boasted, pushing forward a few carefully selected, big, red tomatoes that, according to Uncle Stuart, were sure to be the sweetest.
"Really?" Fiona tried one and found it delicious indeed.
Stuart's farming skills had awoken; he was not just an average green thumb.
"We're moving in a few days," Chicago swung her legs, "Stuart and I have already planned out how to make a greenhouse. That way, Mommy can have fruits and vegetables that Stuart and I grow, all year round!"
Darwin came over.
Looking at the small, almost pitiful cherry tomatoes on his own plate.
Even though he wasn't fond of tomatoes, he felt a twinge of envy in his heart.
"Yeah, we're moving, so you two kiddos can start packing up your things," Fiona looked at Charles and Chicago.
Charles, slowly sipping his milk, glanced down at the new weekly study plan sent over by his school.
"Mommy, next week I'm going to a math competition."
"Great, Mommy will come with you," Fiona responded.
Charles shook his head, "The school organizes it. Parents don't need to attend; they'll take care of lodging and meals."
"Not in our city?" Darwin inquired.
"Yep," Charles nodded, "The principal and teachers will send you the details on the location and other information later."
"Alright," Fiona nodded.
After breakfast, the family of four were all busy with their own business.
Darwin first dropped Chicago off at school, then Charles, who attended a school a bit further away.
On the way, father and son had a friendly chat about the market feedback and profitability following the launch of Solomon's new AI module.
"Are your bonus and project salary deposited directly into your account?" Darwin asked.
The staff downstairs had already shown him the figures.
There had been no backdoor deals, no special treatment because he was Darwin's Charles, but the numbers were already quite substantial.
"Uh, Mom has an account, you can just ask her for it."
"Okay."
The conversation ended, and they arrived at school.
When Charles got out of the car, the principal, teachers, and Director Qiu were all at the entrance, greeting him warmly and asking about his well being before letting Charles into the school grounds.
Darwin sat in the car for a moment, his mind ticking over. He made a call to his assistant:
"I've sent you something about a math competition. Get in touch with the organizers, offer to sponsor their hotel and meals for free, yeah, give them the top-tier sponsorship."
After hanging up, he drove straight to Solomon Energy.
At that time, Solomon Energy's morning meeting had already begun.
Fiona, dressed in a sharp suit and high heels, strode into the conference room.
Inside, there were many familiar faces, and their gazes towards her were mixed.
"Good morning, everyone," Fiona sat down, exuding confidence, "Is there anyone who wants to catch up, or shall we formally start the meeting?"
The slightly awkward atmosphere that hung in the air dissipated with her relaxed and straightforward manner.
"Secretary Woods, it's been a while, hasn't it? After all these years, it's somewhat fateful that the position is still yours," a man who had once competed with Fiona for the presidency remarked. His voice was laced with unmistakable sarcasm.
Fiona looked at him, "That's probably what they call destiny, Klein. In the future, I hope we can continue to work well together and make Solomon Energy better than ever." "
