Chapter 1290
Fiona had just finished eating when Rose showed up.
"Morning, Ms. Woods." Rose looked way more normal today than she did yesterday.
"Morning." Fiona didn't even glance up from her iPad. "There's still some time, grab some breakfast if you want."
Rose just made a sound in response.
She walked over to a distant sofa, sat down, pulled out her own food from her bag, and started nibbling on it.
Christopher, standing next to Fiona, couldn't help but grumble, "Is she scared we're gonna poison her with airport food?"
"Ignore her." Fiona quickly downed another cup of coffee to wake herself up.
10 AM.
At the Durham Group, in the conference room.
"Alaric, weren't you on vacation a few days ago? Why are you back?"
"Mr. Durham's orders, we can't come back?" Alaric said with a smirk, "I also want to see what this Mr. Durham, who’s less involved in the company's affairs than he is in the Solomon Group, can do!"
"This nonsense has gone on long enough. Some people are too scared of Wyatt to make a move. Today, everything gets settled." A guy who looked about the same age as Gideon sat to the right of the president's seat.
As soon as he spoke, the noisy conference room quieted down a lot.
He was Lucian Durham. For decades, rumors about him never seemed to die down.
They said Lucian and Gideon were half-brothers, with Gideon being born to Aisling and Lucian being an illegitimate child.
So, after Lucian joined the Durham Group, he quickly climbed the ranks.
He also somehow got his hands on some shares of the Durham Group.
For decades, Lucian worked quietly behind Gideon, with no ambition.
But this time, when the Durham family hit a crisis, Lucian took the lead in pushing Gideon out.
It was Lucian who suggested removing Gideon from the chairman position.
At the general meeting, Lucian spent over an hour listing all of Gideon's screw-ups, which were countless.
With his stirring and the public opinion at the time, Lucian successfully got Gideon removed from the chairman position and temporarily took over himself. He even claimed he'd give the position back once Wyatt returned.
Of course, that depended on the shareholders' will.
After all, removing the chairman needed a vote by all shareholders.
"Mr. Durham, rest assured, Gideon and Wyatt have let the shareholders of the Durham Group down big time, causing us huge losses this year. Those who support them clearly have no brains!"
"Yeah, I've never liked Gideon and Wyatt. They completely lack masculinity. Gideon is totally controlled by Evander, and Wyatt is a reckless womanizer. Who knows how many women he's taken advantage of! After all these years, it's time for them to face the music!"
"Peregrine, didn't you always want to marry your daughter to Wyatt? Now you're calling him a womanizer?" someone teased.
Peregrine's face showed slight hesitation. "Before Stella's incident went public, who knew Wyatt was such a morally questionable person?"
"Alright." Lucian gently knocked on the table, and the conference room immediately quieted down. "The most important thing today is to decide the fate of the Durham Group. Don't waste time on these matters."
"Uncle Lucian, if you don't argue with me about these things, how much advantage do you have left?" A firm voice came from outside the conference room.
Everyone turned their eyes to the door.
After the door opened, Wyatt, looking much more robust than before and dressed in a sharp suit, strode in with Gideon's loyal subordinates.
Lucian showed his usual kind smile. "Wyatt, long time no see. You look very different."
