Chapter 1018
"Did you have fun today?" Anna turned around, saw Brady, and asked with her arms crossed.
He had run out right after breakfast and only returned when the sun had set.
"Yes, I did. Didn't you say I should learn from Chicago and the others? I studied all day today!" Brady said earnestly.
"What did you learn?" Anna asked.
Brady hesitated for a moment, then avoided looking at Anna. "Mom, you know I'm not very bright. I learn something and then forget it in a day."
Anna almost laughed.
"You always have an excuse!" Anna shook her head. "Go wash your hands and get ready for dinner."
"Okay!" Brady ran off as if escaping.
Anna shook her head helplessly.
But still, she had no great expectations for Brady.
She and Samuel had earned enough money for him to live comfortably for a lifetime.
So, as long as he was happy, that was enough.
However, she couldn't be too lenient with his education. Otherwise, the Walker family would end up with a spoiled child.
As she thought this, her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number, but Anna had a sudden intuition about who it might be.
She answered the call.
"Ms. Torres?" A strange woman's voice came from the other line.
Anna said, "Yes."
"David wants to speak with you."
Anna was silent for a moment. "Alright."
A moment later, David's voice came through the phone. "Anna, I asked you to find me a lawyer. Why haven't you done it?"
"Aren't there public defenders?" Anna asked coldly.
"Are they any good? You need to get me a top lawyer. Aren't the Walker family's lawyers all very good?"
"What does the Walker family have to do with you?" Anna asked coldly, "I'm taking this call just to tell you that you've caused my mother and me a lot of pain. You no longer deserve to be my father. Don't try to contact me again. I won't spend a penny on you."
"No!" David shouted in terror, "Anna, I was wrong! I was really wrong! A despicable woman seduced me!"
Anna said nothing.
David hurriedly added, "If you don't want to spend money on me, can you find your sister? Ask her to sell the house and get me a lawyer!"
"Don't you know that Abigail is hiding because of fraud?" Anna sneered.
"Fraud?" David was stunned.
Anna said, "That's all I have to say. I won't be taking your calls anymore."
"Anna!" Amid David's angry shouts, Anna coldly hung up.
After sunset, the air was still somewhat stuffy.
Anna sighed. Finally, she could completely sever ties with the Torres family.
She had a rough idea about David's case.
Whether he could survive until his release was a big question.
As for Abigail, Anna had also tried to find her.
It was not that she didn't want to help Abigail, but having someone who harbored absolute hatred for her lurking in the shadows was unsettling.
What was more puzzling was that Abigail seemed to have vanished after the incident. Her bank cards and passport had no usage records.
The private detective she had hired even said, "If this situation continues for a long time, it's highly likely that the person you're looking for is already dead."
