Chapter 1025
Fiona's thin lips pressed tightly together.
Just then, from Burl's room, came the cheers of victory from Chicago.
"Good thing Burl was quick today; Charles and Chicago almost saw the body," Darwin said.
Fiona's hand trembled.
"I understand." she exhaled deeply.
She replied to Kenny's message.
Fiona: [Okay.]
Kenny quickly responded.
Kenny: [Don't worry. I'll stay close to Thalassa and Nora, and I won't leave their side.]
Kenny was always reliable.
Fiona's subconscious worry quickly dissipated.
"What about Stella?" Fiona asked.
"Mr. Beaumont probably doesn't know yet," Christopher replied.
"That's good; Stella won't be scared at night," Fiona said, looking at Darwin. "You stay here with Charles and Chicago; I'll go check."
Darwin's expression darkened slightly. "I'll go with you."
"No need. In case the kids look for their parents, someone needs to be here," Fiona said, gently patting Darwin's back and then looking at Christopher. "You come with me."
"Yes." Christopher nodded.
Removing the security at the maternity care center was the first time Christopher disobeyed Fiona. In fact, he was a bit scared inside.
Fiona seemed to have a good temper. But Christopher knew well that such a person was the most terrifying when angry. It was simply unstoppable.
Darkness was falling outside.
Fiona walked forward swiftly and firmly.
Christopher, wanting to ease the awkwardness, took the initiative to speak, "Charlotte really makes me worry."
"What happened?" Fiona glanced at him.
In Fiona's view, no child was more worry-free than Charlotte.
"This afternoon, when Burl found the body, he was with Charlotte," Christopher replied.
Fiona instinctively frowned.
Christopher added, "When I came back, she ran over to tell me about finding the body, said she knew it was a dead person as soon as she smelled that odor, and asked me about the condition of the body, whether we could determine the cause of death, not scared at all."
Christopher occasionally fantasized that Charlotte was scared, crying in his arms and calling out, 'Dad, I'm scared.'
"By the way, she immediately recognized the body as Arnold's, said she recognized Arnold's pants," he continued.
"Charlotte is just smart," Fiona said. "She has these skills because you trained her, so why are you worried?"
Christopher lowered his eyelids and said, "Maybe I've treated her as a child for too long; I've somewhat forgotten those poor days we struggled through together."
Fiona said, "Forget it then, anyway, you and Charlotte won't live that kind of life again."
Christopher was slightly stunned.
"I don't blame you for today's incident," Fiona continued. "In the future, always remember that Charles and Chicago's safety is the top priority."
Thalassa was no longer the one who needed her support or protection. She had Kenny now.
"Understood!" Christopher immediately replied.
As they spoke, Fiona had already approached the lakeside.
In the air, there was a faint stench.
Fiona instinctively frowned.
