Chapter 1186

Fiona leaned in closer to Darwin.

Darwin, without thinking, pulled her into his arms, his cane hand steadying them both.

The nearby staff couldn't help but watch with envy.

But if they got a closer look at Fiona's face, they might think twice.

"Still no answer," Darwin muttered, frowning at his phone.

Fiona took the phone, listened, and heard the automated message, "Sorry, the number you dialed is not in service."

Fiona's heart sank.

She remembered the video Mike had shown her.

In the clips, Darwin was under a tree, holding an ice cream, talking and frowning. He walked along a deserted path, looking happier, like someone had cheered him up. He smiled the whole way, even making playful gestures.

In the last clip, Darwin seemed to be arguing intensely with someone. Though there was no sound, his anger was clear. After speaking, he looked down helplessly and made a gesture as if to touch the other person's head.

Fiona knew how serious Darwin's condition was. He wouldn't act that way with someone he despised.

"Did he answer?" Darwin's voice snapped Fiona back to reality.

"No," Fiona replied, her throat dry.

"What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?" Darwin asked, frowning. "Are you feeling unwell?"

"I didn't eat enough breakfast, feeling a bit dizzy," Fiona said, lowering her eyes.

Her eyes stung, but she couldn't break down in front of Darwin. She couldn't even cry.

"Let's go wait inside the restaurant," Darwin said, supporting Fiona and hurrying inside. "Xavier, go downstairs and check. He said he's wearing an off-white hoodie and came by bike."

"Yes!" Xavier watched as Darwin helped Fiona into the restaurant, feeling uneasy. Something was off with Fiona, especially after she took Darwin's phone.

A thought crossed Xavier's mind: something big was going to happen.

The waiter poured Fiona a glass of lemon honey water. She sat there, numb, sipping it slowly.

"Feeling better?" Darwin asked, touching her cheek and forehead with his large hand.

Fiona felt the warmth from his palm, and her chaotic thoughts slowly calmed down.

Breaking down now wouldn't help. If Darwin was sick, he needed treatment.
