Chapter 1017

Milo was in Chicago's room.

When Stella arrived, she saw a few children huddled together, seemingly plotting something. Upon hearing her footsteps, the conspiratorial whispers ceased immediately.

"Kids, what are you whispering about?" Stella stepped over Jessie with her long legs and complained, "Jessie, you can't be so lazy. Move a bit. It's only because my legs are long that I can step over you. A smaller child wouldn't be able to!"

Jessie grunted and rolled over, showing off a bit.

Stella remained silent.

"Aunt Stella, are you taking Milo back?" Chicago asked.

"Yes, if I leave Milo here any longer, he'll have to be renamed 'Little Fat Cat'!" Stella said as she picked up the sleeping Milo. The drowsy Milo blinked its eyes open. Stella patted its head, saying, "It's okay, go back to sleep."

Milo adjusted its position and continued sleeping in Stella's arms.

Chicago waved at Milo, "Milo, I'll come visit you!"

There was no hint of reluctance in her voice.

Stella's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "What are you all planning?"

"Nothing." Chicago shook her head.

Among the children behind her, only Brady was also shaking his head.

"You'd better not be!" Stella warned sternly, "Or be prepared for a spanking!"

"We won't!" Chicago waved dismissively.

Fiona would never spank her! At most, she'd be confined to her room, and she had plenty of experience with that!

"Alright then." Stella patted Chicago's head. "I'm leaving now."

"Goodbye, Aunt Stella." Chicago waved obediently.

Once Stella left, Chicago let out a sigh of relief.

"We almost got caught!" she turned to Brady. "Good thing we fooled her, or you wouldn't be able to catch fish tomorrow!"

"Thanks, Chicago!" Brady said sincerely.

"No problem, we're friends!" Chicago said generously.

Brady checked his watch. "I have to go back now, or my mom will come looking for me!"

"Go on!" Chicago nodded repeatedly.

Anna's slap was not something to be trifled with!

As Brady left, Jessie moved aside to make way for him.

"Aunt Fiona, I'm heading home." Brady, though a bit slow, was well-mannered. Before leaving, he ran over to Fiona to say goodbye.

"Alright, be careful on your way," Fiona said, stuffing some snacks into Brady's pocket for him to share with Declan.

Brady walked home happily, having most of the snacks Fiona had given him along the way.

He did remember to save two pieces for Declan, thinking to himself what a good brother he was. Just then, he saw someone coming from the rockery direction, hurrying towards the guest quarters.

Brady watched the woman's back. She looked familiar, but he couldn't recall where he had seen her.

With a new baby at home, there had been many guests lately.

Brady thought for a while but couldn't remember who she was, so he gave up. If she was heading to the guest quarters, she must be a guest.

When he got home, even though his birthday was still a few months away, Anna had already started preparing. She had set up a long dining table in the yard. Yesterday, Anna mentioned that it was for the dessert table. She had hired the best pastry chef, and the desserts would be delivered early the next morning.
