Chapter 630 Chicago Wanted a Little Sister!

Darwin never anticipated Chicago being thrust into the limelight due to the art exhibition.

Until yesterday, Darwin was only slightly troubled. But witnessing the multitude praising Chicago and Charles filled his heart with joy.

However, when Christopher got caught, a sense of crisis overwhelmed Darwin. His current mindset was to shield Charles and Chicago, not allowing anyone even a glimpse of them. As for tomorrow, asking Chicago to take the stage again, Darwin would sooner die than agree.

Thirty minutes later, Darwin's car arrived at the exhibition venue.

Since Henry had to return to the office for impending work, Darwin had the driver take him back to Solomon's.

As the car pulled away, Henry's phone buzzed. Henry answered the call, asking, "What's wrong?"

The voice on the other end hushed. "We just got news that Miss Ross has passed away."

"Who?" Henry's interest piqued.

"The foreign heiress engaged to Mr. Solomon back then, causing trouble for Secretary Woods!" the voice replied.

In Henry's mind, the image of that delicate woman immediately surfaced. "She's dead? When?" Henry knew after she framed Secretary Woods repeatedly, Mr. Solomon called off the engagement directly.

Later, he heard Ms. Ross was abandoned by her family. After rejecting two business alliances, the Hathaway family completely gave up on her. After that, Henry never heard anything about Hathaway again.

However, in recent years, the Ross family didn't give up on their collaboration with Solomon. The relationship between the two sides was quite good.

"It's been almost a week. I heard she died in her apartment three or four days ago before someone discovered it," the person on the other end sighed.

"I doubt the Ross family will make this public."

"Then how did you find out?" The caller was a former secretary in the president's office, now a full-time housewife.

"I have a cousin working for the Ross family, assisting the eldest sister of the Hathaway family. She and her colleagues helped with the funeral arrangements for the Hathaways. Well, it's called a funeral, but they just found a priest and buried the body directly in a coffin. They didn't even use the family cemetery."

Henry remained silent, reflecting on the situation. If Ms. Ross hadn't acted recklessly back then, if she hadn't tangled with Secretary Woods, none of this would have occurred. It was astonishing to see how Ms. Ross, once the most beloved daughter of the family, had fallen so low and been completely abandoned by her family.

"Since the Ross family didn't make this public, I suggest you refrain from spreading it around." After a pause, Henry finally spoke.

"I've already told you. Whether you should inform Mr. Solomon and Secretary Woods, that's for you to decide."
The call ended.

Henry pondered for a moment.

Mr. Solomon and Secretary Woods were doing fine now. There was no need to upset them with such matters.

So, Henry decided to keep quiet.

Darwin had prepared a bouquet of sunflowers in advance.

"Mr. Solomon, you've finally arrived. Chicago is giving a farewell speech!" The bodyguard handed Darwin the flowers when he saw him.

Darwin hurried over.

As soon as Darwin appeared, Chicago, speaking on stage, immediately noticed him. Her beautiful eyes instantly lit up.

The people around noticed and turned their gazes toward them.

Darwin nodded politely like a gentleman. Then, Darwin smiled and looked at his daughter.

Before Darwin arrived, Chicago seemed somewhat sluggish. But after Darwin arrived, Chicago immediately perked up.

"Thank you, uncles, aunties, brothers, sisters, grandpa, and grandma, for coming to see my art exhibition. I won't disappoint everyone's expectations and will definitely create more and better artworks in the future." Chicago finished speaking and bowed to the crowd, concluding her speech.

As soon as Chicago stepped down from the stage, Darwin approached her with the bouquet in hand. He held the flowers while lifting Chicago with the other arm, kissing her cheek. "Baby, you're amazing. Your presence is just as great as Mommy's."

"Really?" Chicago's eyes lit up even more upon hearing that, but then she humbly added. "But Mommy is still better!"

Darwin smiled affectionately. He carried Chicago and walked toward Fiona.

Fiona smiled as she looked at the father and daughter.

"Mommy, Daddy is back!" exclaimed Chicago.

Fiona took the flowers from Darwin's hand.

Darwin kissed Fiona on the cheek and said, "Honey, you've worked hard."

"What's there for Fiona to work hard? It's Charles who works hard!" When Thalassa returned after the call, she heard this and immediately defended her godson, "I've never seen a mom who makes her son worry about her food and drink."

"Are you jealous?" Fiona proudly ruffled Charles's hair. "Why not have one with your Mr. Walker?"

Thalassa blushed instantly. "Watch what you say in front of children!"

"Godmother, when are you and Godfather going to have a daughter like Chicago?" Chicago joined in the teasing.

"Chicago, are you teasing the godmother along with your mom?" Thalassa spoke and tried to catch Chicago in her arms.

Darwin dodged to the side.

Thalassa missed Chicago, much to Chicago's delight.

Meanwhile, Charles remained engrossed in his Sudoku puzzle, though a faint smile graced his lips, perhaps amused by the banter.

"Alright, let's go home and celebrate!" Fiona hugged Thalassa and rubbed her waist to soothe her.

Thalassa immediately stopped being angry. "Kenny said after work, let's go straight to Emerald Pool. It's closer to his place, and we should leave now."

Leaving the exhibition center, the group made their way back to Emerald Pool, where the festivities continued.

Chicago loved eating meat. Hence, Darwin invited the best Brazilian chef and arranged a barbecue buffet.

The invitees also included Chicago's exhibition manager and team.

The atmosphere was lively and Chicago was especially joyful.

Even Charles, who rarely smiled, was in high spirits for the evening.

As the night progressed, indulging in food and drink, Thalassa took to updating her Twitter, sharing 18 photos that radiated with happiness. However, this joyous mood was short-lived as the next morning arrived. Thalassa, having overindulged in drinks, found herself succumbing to a hangover that kept her bedridden at Emerald Pool for half the day.

Thankfully, Kenny came to her aid, providing a hangover remedy that gradually helped her recover. Just as she was starting to feel better, her phone rang. It was a call from her overseas classmate, signaling the start of a new turn of events.

"It's late there, aren't you sleeping?" Thalassa yawned, struggling a bit before lying back down on the bed.

Kenny watched with a mix of amusement and concern.

He didn't know what was said on the other end.

Thalassa, who had just laid down, suddenly sat up seriously and said, "Send me a screenshot."

Afterward, she hung up with a serious expression.

"What's wrong?" Kenny asked.

Someone posted an assassination mission on the dark web to kill Darwin, Charles, and Chicago. Thalassa stated succinctly.

Seeing the screenshot, Thalassa immediately became alert.

She got out of bed right away, without even bothering to put on her shoes, and called Fiona while walking outside.
