Chapter 1243

Hubert liked being Chelsea's Fiona, the one who was free as a bird, no strings attached. That's why he called her "Ms. Rhoads."

He'd seen her in all sorts of situations, but this was the first time she looked like she was about to crack.

"Don't worry, he won't get hurt," Hubert said, trying to sound calm and serious.

Fiona glanced at the screen again. "I need to know ASAP why Darwin split into this hallucination of Aiden."

"Yeah, me too," Hubert replied.

By the time Fiona left the research institute, it was already past noon.

She'd been glued to the surveillance in Darwin's room and missed a video call from Chicago.

Since Fiona was out with Burl, Chicago called Burl instead. Hearing that Darwin and Fiona were busy, she decided to take a nap.

As they got into the car, Burl asked cautiously, "Fiona, are we heading back now?"

Fiona pulled her gaze from the window and shook her head. "I brought you out because I need you to do something important. Later, we'll go buy you a couple of good suits. Tomorrow, you're coming with me to meet some people."

"What?" Burl looked puzzled.

"Are you really planning to play video games at home forever?" Fiona asked.

Burl mumbled, "I just thought if I had nothing to do, I could be there for you when you needed me..."

Fiona, looking pale and tired, gave a wry smile. "From now on, there's nothing that requires you to charge ahead."

"Who are we meeting tomorrow? What's the plan?" Burl asked.

"Kenny and I have been talking about making a batch of medical-related chips. The team Kenny contacted is in Valcia. Since we're here, we'll meet them tomorrow," Fiona said calmly.

Burl nodded. "Kenny mentioned it briefly. In this field, we've always been restricted domestically, so he wants to form his own team for R&D. But it's tough; these foreigners have a tight grip on our tech."

"Just because there are restrictions doesn't mean we shouldn't move forward, right?" Fiona replied. "The harder it is, the more we need to push ahead. Once we get results, it'll be good for the Rhoads Group and the Walker Family. If Charles and Chicago really want to chill in the future, they won't have to worry about money."

"Right?" Burl didn't see anything wrong with Charles and Chicago wanting to relax.

He thought, 'How much money would it take for them to live a life of luxury without worrying about money?'

"Wait!" Burl realized something and said, "Fiona, are you trying to get me to join this project?"

"What else?" Fiona looked at him. "I have to start handling the Solomon Group's affairs again, while also managing the Rhoads Group and Monsoon Investment. Do you want me to be distracted by such a big project? Doesn't your heart ache for me?"

"It does!" Burl clutched his chest.

"Then that's settled."

"But I didn't study this."

"Then follow Kenny and start from scratch." Fiona paused. "Burl, I have great faith in you. In my heart, you can do anything."

This statement was a real boost for Burl.

He immediately pounded his chest, saying, "Fiona, you can count on me for this. Even though I don't like Kenny, I'll show you results! I'll take care of the money for Charles and Chicago to spend."

Seeing Burl regain his spirits, Fiona smiled faintly.

Then, she leaned back against the headrest, exhausted. "I'll take a nap first. Keep it quiet."
