Chapter 628 Joyful Events

In the last six months, both Darwin and the Rhoads family faced a series of significant events, adding to the strain already present in their unstable household.

Amidst encounters with death and madness, Charles was diagnosed with leukemia, and Dagmar also left.

The family indeed needed some joyful events.

"Are you serious?" Darwin released Fiona and asked excitedly.

Fiona was a bit confused by his reaction. "Why are you so surprised? We’ve got married, so of course we should have a wedding."

Darwin seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. "I've wanted to do this for a long time, but you never mentioned it. I thought..."

"What did you think?" Fiona gently probed.

"I thought you didn't want to." Darwin's eyes turned red, feeling extremely wronged.

In Fiona's time as Secretary Woods, she would never believe that Darwin could be so lowly.

"Actually, I've been thinking about it for a long time." Fiona touched Darwin's cheek.

At that wedding which Fiona forgot whose wedding it was, despite all of Darwin's business, he still became a groomsman.

The company had an important document that needed Darwin's signature. At that time, there were no advanced electronic signing methods. Fiona took a taxi to the wedding venue to find Darwin. It was an outdoor wedding.

When Fiona arrived, Darwin, Wyatt Durham and a few others were wearing white suits with flowers on their chests, standing among the blooming flowers like jade trees in the wind. Fiona was enchanted by Darwin's appearance.

In the evening, Darwin went to the apartment and left after he finished making love with Fiona. Fiona was exhausted but couldn't fall asleep. When it was almost dawn, Fiona briefly fell asleep and dreamt about the wedding. However, the groom in her dream was Darwin, and the bride wearing a white wedding gown looked just like Fiona.

After waking up, Fiona was still confused for a while. She wondered if she was the bride, or if it was Ms. Robbins.

Darwin listened as Fiona casually recounted the past. Darwin's heart felt sour.

"Honey, what kind of wedding did you want back then?" he asked gently. Fiona thought for a moment and smiled helplessly. "It's been too long, I truly forgot. Probably one with lots of flowers, very dreamy and romantic."

"It would be even better if it was on a private island," Darwin added, holding Fiona's waist.

"Yes, Bay City is too cold. These days, the temperature keeps dropping. I feel like my bones are about to freeze." Fiona nodded hurriedly.

"Then let's choose an island. We'll have to count how many people are going and charter a large plane. Oh, and we need a hotel too.

"The people in the previous general manager's office all have a good relationship with you. We should invite all of them." Darwin paused. "Although a few of them were the first to call me Mr. Solomon online."

Fiona immediately looked up and laughed.

Seeing Fiona's joy, all the gloom in Darwin's heart disappeared. The dark clouds in his mind also dissipated.

"Now everyone knows that you are committed to me forever. No one will call you Mr. Solomon, right?" Fiona said afterward.

Darwin, however, acted indifferent. "Let them call if they want. I don't care."

"Mr. Solomon, you're so magnanimous!" Fiona praised him, then yawned. "Let's continue discussing the wedding during the day. I'm tired today, let's sleep."

Darwin kissed Fiona's cheek. "Okay."

After making up, the previously insatiable Mr. Solomon behaved exceptionally obedient tonight. Holding Fiona in his arms, Darwin thought about the wedding and slept deeply. He even had a dream related to the wedding.

In his dream, he and Fiona looked like they were ten years younger. Under the clear blue sky, there was a seemingly endless field of flowers. Fiona was wearing a pristine white wedding dress and solemnly pledged her commitment to him in front of her grandmother. A lifetime of care, companionship, and loyalty to each other.

Upon waking, Darwin gazed at Fiona, still nestled in his arms, sound asleep. His eyes bore traces of redness, and his heart weighed heavy with pain. Ten years. It seemed like an eternity, stretching beyond what one could endure in a single lifetime.

Darwin rose from the bed with care, finding Xavier and his men already waiting downstairs.

Upon seeing Xavier's swollen face, several sizes larger than before, Darwin couldn't help but be taken aback.

"It was that assassin who ambushed me," Xavier stubbornly declared.

Darwin simply nodded in acknowledgment.

"Mr. Solomon, about Duke Simon..." Xavier began.

"Fiona will handle that," Darwin interjected calmly. "Tell everyone to follow Fiona's orders."

Xavier, having no doubts about Fiona's capabilities, agreed readily, knowing both his boss and his wife were ruthless.

"You're in bad shape; take some time to rest," Darwin advised, casting another glance at Xavier.

Xavier felt touched. In the past, when he carried out tasks for Mr. Solomon, he endured injuries without consideration. But now, as a husband and father, he recognized the importance of caring for oneself and others, a realization that deeply moved him.

"Make sure not to alarm Chicago and Charles," Darwin added.

Xavier was left speechless, realizing Darwin hadn't changed; he remained the cold and indifferent man he always was.

"Yes," Xavier responded stoically, his expression unchanged.

After giving all the necessary instructions, Darwin went back to his room. Darwin had planned to cuddle up to his wife and sleep for a while longer, but Fiona's alarm clock went off. She got up and Darwin ended up missing his chance.

Fiona turned back. "What are you doing?"

Darwin buried his head in the blanket and smiled silently. "Are you going to the art exhibition today too?" Darwin struggled to reach out and grabbed Fiona's hand accurately.

Fiona leaned over. "Yes, but this early alarm was set for Mr. Solomon."

"Me?" Darwin looked up. Mr. Solomon, who had just woken up, still looked well put together.

Darwin looked much younger and more naive, like a college student.

"Baby, the work you didn't finish yesterday is still waiting for you over there." Fiona pinched Darwin's chin, her tone like she was coaxing Charles. "You’d better go and finish it, and when you come back tonight, I'll make your favorite dish for you to eat."

"Really?" Darwin was pleasantly surprised.

Fiona was usually busy too. It has been a long time since Darwin ate her cooking.

"Yes." Fiona patted Darwin's butt. "Don't dawdle, leave work early, and you can go to the art exhibition. She will definitely be super happy to see you!"

"Okay!"

No matter what happened, Fiona could easily coax Darwin in three seconds.

Darwin happily changed into a suit and went downstairs with Fiona for breakfast. Fiona even sent Darwin to the garage.

Fiona straightened Darwin's tie. "Alright, go!"

Darwin paid little attention to bodyguards or drivers as he hugged Fiona's waist and kissed her tenderly. "I'll be back soon," he assured her.

As Darwin's car slowly rolled out of the garage, Fiona turned back, her gaze drawn to the scene unfolding inside the restaurant. There, she spotted a little radish head, giggling and chatting animatedly with Charles by the floor-to-ceiling window. Charles wore a wry smile in response to the child's antics.

Observing the interaction, Fiona couldn't help but think of Simon's actions. A surge of protective instinct welled up within her, reflecting in the depths of her eyes as a fierce determination.

Fiona vowed silently that she wouldn't allow anyone to threaten her child.
