Chapter 1179
The assistant frowned. "Maybe he's got other issues he's not telling us about."
"We can't rule that out. Let's just wait and see," Hubert replied, glancing at the assistant. "I get it, but we can't rush this."
The assistant paused. "You're right. It's been over thirty years; a few more days won't hurt."
Hubert didn't say anything else and headed back to the consultation room to go over Darwin's medical records.
Meanwhile, Fiona and Darwin got back in the car.
"Did Dr. Hubert make you uncomfortable?" Fiona asked.
Darwin shook his head. "He's better than the other psychologists."
"That's good." Fiona squeezed his hand. "Dr. Hubert thinks your condition isn't serious. With the right treatment, you'll get better soon."
Darwin smiled and nodded.
Fiona watched him, feeling uneasy. Ever since she noticed something was off with Darwin, she saw a pattern: if his actions made her uneasy, that part of him would soon disappear. Now, he was unusually cooperative with the treatment, with no resistance.
She wasn't sure if he had accepted it or if he had split off another part of his personality because of her.
Fiona gently touched his cheek. The scars had healed a lot but were still a bit rough. She pinched his earlobe. "We don't have any plans today. Where would you like to go? I'll go with you."
Darwin looked at her, his mind blank. It didn't matter where they went as long as they were together.
"What about you? Where do you want to go?" he asked.
Fiona thought for a moment. There was a place she really wanted to go.
"Are you tired?" she asked.
Darwin shook his head. "No."
"Then let's go to the airport!" Fiona suggested.
Darwin was confused but nodded. He didn't ask where they were going.
At the airport, they got their boarding passes. Darwin saw the destination: Serene City.
"Is it your hometown?" he asked.
"Yes," Fiona nodded.
Darwin's eyes lit up. "Are you taking me to see your mom and grandparents?"
"Scared?" Fiona teased, pinching his chin.
"No!" Darwin quickly said, hugging her. "I'm really happy you're taking me to see them!"
Fiona patted his back. "You're even more affectionate than Chicago."
Darwin didn't mind. He felt incredibly happy, as if meeting Fiona's family was a huge deal.
Later, as Darwin regained his old memories, he realized this was Fiona's final acceptance of him.
After landing in Serene City, they went straight to West Mountain Tomb. Most of the cemetery staff had changed in the past two years, but the administrators recognized Fiona.
