Chapter 1454
Darwin shook his head. "She's just worried about you."
Fiona's eyes started to tear up.
"If it were anyone else, Grandma wouldn't be so concerned," Darwin said softly, looking down.
Fiona raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? Should I find someone else then?"
Darwin immediately looked up, catching the playful glint in Fiona's eyes. He threw himself into her arms and declared firmly, "No way! There's no replacing you. I'll just have to do my best to ease her worries."
Fiona's shoulders shook with laughter.
"You say one thing and then do another," she teased, poking Darwin's cheek.
Darwin caught her finger and kissed it. "That's just how it is. I don't play by the rules when it comes to this."
"You're so bossy," Fiona said, but her tone was filled with affection.
Later that night.
Emerald Pool was still brightly lit.
Burl rushed in just as dinner was being served.
He had come straight from a meeting.
In his suit and tie, he looked sharp, but there was something about him that made it seem like a kid playing dress-up in adult clothes.
"Darwin, you're really back?" Burl hurried over to Darwin, gave him a once-over, and then punched him lightly on the shoulder.
"Mind your manners!" Janna scolded.
"Alright, alright. Darwin! Darwin, you're really back?" Burl quickly corrected himself.
Darwin nodded. "I'm back. Thanks for taking care of things while I was gone."
Burl suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.
He hadn't really done much to take care of things. If playing around with the kids counted, then maybe he had helped a little.
"It was nothing. Fiona did most of the work. You should take back the reins of the Solomon Group soon. Kenny and I need Fiona's guidance. We're always tied up with Solomon Group stuff!" Burl grumbled as he pulled out a chair and sat down. "It's great that you're back, Darwin. The food's gotten so much better! Fiona, you're spoiling him."
"These are all Darwin's favorites. You eat anything and everything, so it's easy to cook for you," Janna said.
Burl pouted. "Grandma, you're being so obvious today. I even got you a gemstone last month, and I haven't done anything wrong this month!"
He had been working so hard!
Janna huffed. "You know what this is about."
Burl suddenly felt guilty. "It's about the marriage thing, isn't it?"
"If you don't have a girlfriend by the end of the year, you'll have to go on blind dates. I've found some great girls for you."
As a modern man, Burl was very resistant to the idea of blind dates.
He mumbled a few words and quickly changed the subject. "I heard from Charles that we're going on a trip?"
"We?" Thalassa looked at him. "Do you even have the time?"
"It's rare for everyone to go on a trip together. I'll make the time!" Burl thought for a moment and then sighed. "Even if I can't join for the whole trip, a few days would be nice. Who knows when we'll all be together again?"
"Just make sure you manage your time," Fiona said.
Burl was overjoyed.
He hadn't worked this hard in a long time.
A lot of it was new territory for him, and he had to learn on the job.
Burl was incredibly busy.
A short trip would be a good way to relax his mind.
"Alright, let's raise a glass to celebrate Mr. Solomon's return," Burl said, lifting his glass with a big smile.
