Chapter 1041

Merely contemplating such consequences made Anna shudder all over. She watched as Fiona turned back, secretly sighing in relief that Fiona had no intention of venting her anger on her and the Walker family.

It wasn't that the Walker family feared the Solomon family and the Rhoads Group; it was just that if a conflict were to arise, it would result in mutual destruction.

Outside the hospital room, Christopher stood waiting for Fiona, feeling guilty.

Charlotte stood beside Christopher, her clothes still damp and unchanged.

"Today's incident was caused by Chicago herself," Fiona said coldly, "You have already fulfilled your duties within your responsibilities."

Christopher instinctively glanced at Charlotte. But Charlotte knew that Chicago had planned to sneak out to play and had told no one, yet she had followed along.

"Mrs. Solomon, I'm sorry. You can send me away," Charlotte said, her eyes lowered. For the first time in front of Fiona, her eyes reddened, and she choked up.

"You are Chicago's friend. You didn't betray your friend, and you did nothing wrong. Moreover, if it weren't for you accompanying her today, relying on Jessie alone, Chicago wouldn't have survived," Fiona said, squatting down and gently caressing Charlotte's cheek. Her face was cold.

Charlotte looked up at Fiona, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Honestly, I'm really angry right now, but I don't know who to blame," Fiona said with a self-deprecating smile. Her gaze shifted, noticing some small wounds on Charlotte's arm and injuries on the back of her hand.

"Christopher, take her to get her wounds treated," Fiona said, patting Charlotte's shoulder and standing up. She pushed open the tightly closed door of the hospital room and walked in.

Burl, Darwin, Charles, Alexander, and his wife were all in the room.

"Fiona."

"Mommy."

Charles and Burl stood up simultaneously when they saw Fiona enter.

"Stella, Alexander, thank you both. Go home and rest," Fiona said gently.

Stella looked at Chicago, who was huddled in Darwin's arms and nodded. "Alright, I'm hungry too. Alexander, let's go home."

"Okay." Before leaving, Alexander comforted Fiona, "Chicago was just a bit frightened, nothing serious. Don't worry too much."

Fiona merely nodded.

After Alexander and his wife left, only Fiona and the others remained in the room.

"Fiona, luckily, Chicago is very fortunate and unharmed!" Burl quickly grinned.

"Chicago, come out of Daddy's arms and come to me," Fiona said, standing still, her tone still gentle.

Chicago looked up at Darwin, tears streaming down her face.

Darwin's face was grim, his brows furrowed tightly.

"It's okay." he gently patted Chicago's back, holding her cold hand.

Chicago got off the hospital bed, sobbing as she walked over to Fiona.

"Mommy, I'm sorry," she apologized through her sobs.

"What's there to be sorry about?" Fiona wiped her tears. "You wanted to fulfill Brady's birthday wish, didn't you?"

Chicago nodded.

"Chicago, do you know who pushed you into the river today?" Fiona continued to ask.

Chicago shook her head slightly.

Fiona said, "She is Anna's half-sister."

Chicago was shocked.

Fiona added, "Not a sister from the same mother. She and her mother have been bullying Anna. Now, her whole family has received the punishment they deserve for their misdeeds. She is resentful and unwilling to accept it, so she sought revenge."

Chicago, being naturally intelligent, immediately covered her mouth in horror. "Was she targeting Brady and Declan?"

"No matter who she was targeting, what would have happened if it were them who were pushed into the river today?" Fiona asked seriously.
