Chapter 1159

"It's no big deal. I could take care of her for a lifetime," Charles said, tossing her the chocolate.

"Mom, chill, I won't get fat!" Chicago said, chomping down with determination.

Then, like a lightbulb went off, she turned to Charles. "Charles, if I don't get fat, will you still take care of me forever?"

Charles paused. "Yeah, I will," he nodded.

"Awesome!" Chicago wobbled. "This chocolate is bomb!"

Fiona and Darwin exchanged amused glances at Chicago's cuteness.

On the way back, they started chatting about going camping.

Chicago and Stuart's little farm had a killer autumn harvest, so they had many foods to bring to the camping trip.

"This time, let's bring Charlotte and Christopher. Stuart's definitely in. What about Grandma Rhoads? Is she coming?" Chicago counted on her fingers.

"She's been swamped lately. You can ask her later," Fiona said.

Chicago nodded, then started worrying again.

"I should grow up fast and work at the Rhoads Group so Grandma Rhoads can chill a bit," she said earnestly.

It was the first time she said something like this.

Darwin, listening, asked instinctively, "Didn't you say you wanted to be a painter?"

"Yeah, but being a painter and working at the Rhoads Group aren't mutually exclusive. I wanna be a painter, an entrepreneur, an adventurer, and a traveler!" Chicago raised her chin high. "Mom said I shouldn't be boxed in by one identity. My future's got endless possibilities!"

Fiona gave her a thumbs-up. "That's right, Chicago!"

Darwin smiled but still worried.

In fact, he wished Chicago could simply be a carefree artist, living a serene life free from troubles.

But if she had big dreams, he would back her up no matter what.

Luckily, Fiona and Janna got home almost at the same time.

As they got out of the car, Chicago rushed to Janna and hugged her.

"Grandma Rhoads, I've missed you," she snuggled up to Janna.

Janna laughed. "Really? I'm heading on a business trip to Elysium for a month tomorrow. Wanna come?"

Chicago said, "A business trip? For a month?"

"What's wrong?" Janna teased.

"We were planning to go camping and wanted to ask if you'd join us," Chicago sighed, her head drooping.

Fiona stepped forward and explained the task assigned by Chicago's teacher.

"It's cool, if we miss it this time, there's always next time," Janna comforted. "We've got plenty of time!"

"Okay," Chicago nodded.

Janna checked the time. "It's dinner time. Let's hustle to the restaurant; we can't let the little darlings go hungry!"

Hand in hand, Charles and Chicago rushed ahead.

Fiona walked slowly with Charles behind them.

Charles rarely talked about the future.

Just now, Chicago was talking about what she wanted to do when she grew up.

Fiona suddenly got curious.

"Charles, Chicago just said she wants to work at the Rhoads Group when she grows up. What about you? Do you wanna work at the Solomon Group or the Rhoads Group?" Fiona asked.

Charles held onto two of Fiona's fingers. "Do I have to pick between those two?"
