Chapter 79 I'm Pregnant, Do You Want It?

Henry dragged his feet to the secretary's office door, feeling like a deflated balloon.

Someone was lurking outside.

Henry's eyes went wide, almost tripping over his own feet in shock.

Darwin stood there, holding a takeout bag with a restaurant logo. Who knew how long he'd been waiting?

"Mr. Solomon..." Henry's voice shook.

"Move," Darwin's tone was ice-cold.

Henry could practically feel the frostbite from Darwin's glare.

He gulped. "Mr. Solomon, Ms. Woods..."

"Out!" Darwin cut him off.

Henry's last shred of bravery evaporated. He nodded and slipped out, hugging the wall.

Darwin stepped in, shut the door, and locked it.

As he headed towards the lounge, he yanked at his tie with one hand.

He'd been worried she might be upset about this morning, so he ditched his lunch meeting and grabbed food for her himself.

But as soon as he got there, he heard what she said.

In her eyes, he was just a big, fat zero!

Darwin pushed open the lounge door but didn't see Fiona.

There was some noise coming from the bathroom, though.

He set the food down.

Was she puking?

Darwin frowned and moved closer to listen.

But the noise stopped, and after a moment, the door creaked open.

Fiona stepped out, looking like a ghost—pale face, red eyes, hair all over the place.

Darwin's heart did a weird flip.

"What happened to you?" He took a couple of steps to stand in front of her.

Instinctively, he raised his hand and felt her forehead.

No fever.

Fiona stared at him, dazed.

Had she puked so much she was seeing things?

Why was Darwin here?

Snapping back to reality, Fiona brushed his hand away. "Weren't you supposed to be at lunch with a client?"

"I bailed," Darwin said, still icy, "What's wrong with you? You were puking last night too!"

"Maybe I got too worked up this morning," Fiona mumbled, heading for the bed.

She finally got how tough being pregnant was.

She couldn't keep anything down.

Darwin grabbed her wrist. "Eat something before you crash!"

Fiona shot him a look, not in the mood to argue, and let him drag her to the small table by the window.

He unpacked the food, one dish at a time.

"All good for you," Darwin said.

He'd been fuming when he walked in, but seeing her like this, he couldn't stay mad.

Fiona looked at him, feeling a weird ache in her chest.

She hoped he could go back to ignoring her and treating her like a toy.

Why was he suddenly playing the caring husband?

"Did the talks with the Ross family go well?" Fiona asked as she picked at her food, "I heard it's a big deal."

Billions of dollars on the line.

"Yeah, it went fine," Darwin said, serving her more food.

Fiona stared at the plate.

The smell was too much.

She tried to keep it together.

But she couldn't, and she dropped her fork, bolting to the bathroom.

Darwin rushed after her.

Fiona locked the door, and everything she'd just eaten came right back up.

Darwin stood outside, a weird thought crossing his mind.

Then he shook it off.

They'd always been careful with contraception.

After a bit, Fiona cracked the door open.

This time, her face wasn't ghostly pale but had a weird, sickly flush.

"Darwin, I can't eat this stuff," Fiona said, looking at him.

"I get it," Darwin said, stepping over to hug her, gently stroking the back of her head. "I'll have someone take you to the hospital later."

Fiona stiffened.

She shoved Darwin away. "Why the hospital?"

Darwin was quiet for a moment, then his fingers lightly brushed her thin cheek. "Fiona, are you pregnant?"

Fiona's hair stood on end.

She should've held back from puking!

How could she not hold it in?

"Are you joking?" Fiona laughed mockingly. "I had my period just two weeks ago."

She pretended not to care.

She also caught the look of relief on Darwin's face.

As expected.

Fiona walked past Darwin and went back to nibbling on her food.

Darwin came over and took away the stuff that had made her nauseous.

Fiona managed a couple of bites of something else.

Suddenly, she looked at Darwin.

When she was a kid, her grandma always said she was stubborn. Over time, as she grew up and faced life's curveballs, she had changed a lot.

"Mr. Solomon, I'm suddenly curious."

"What?" Darwin looked at her.

"If I were really pregnant, how much would you pay me to get an abortion?" Fiona asked with a smile, "We never agreed on that when we got together."

"There's no point in discussing something that won't happen." Darwin's face turned stormy.

"Alright." Fiona shrugged, acting indifferent.

But inside, her heart was breaking.

Fiona had a bowl of soup.

The nausea and vomiting feeling was temporarily squashed.

After rinsing her mouth and brushing her teeth, Fiona came back and curled up in bed.

After a while, Darwin still came over.

He hugged Fiona, kissing her cheeks, earlobes, and neck, gentle and super affectionate.

Fiona was both lost in it and desperately trying to stay awake.

After what felt like forever, Darwin spoke softly, "Fiona."

Fiona ignored him, pretending to be asleep.

"Answer me, I know you're not asleep," Darwin said, shaking her.

Fiona was annoyed. "Can't you let me take a nap?"

"No!"

Darwin thought about the cold words she had said to Henry.

Those words all boiled down to one thing: she was always ready to leave him.

"Do you want to have sex?" Fiona asked impatiently.

"Fiona, you..." Darwin felt like Fiona saw him as nothing more than a lust-driven beast. Frustrated, he yanked open her collar and bit her collarbone.

Fiona couldn't help but shiver.

After biting, Darwin felt he had been too rough and gently kissed the spot.

Fiona tilted her head slightly, her eyes a bit unfocused.

Darwin knew too well how to mess with her.

'Bastard!'

Just as Fiona's mind was getting fuzzy, Darwin kissed along her collarbone to her ear, his hand circling her waist and gently resting on her lower abdomen.

"Fiona, would you be happier with a child?"

Fiona thought she was hallucinating.

But then, Darwin said in a bewitching tone, "If you were really pregnant, I wouldn't let you get an abortion. That would be our child. How could I bear to?"

Fiona snapped back to reality.

She pushed Darwin away, as if avoiding a demon, and got out of bed. "Darwin, do you know what you're saying? Are you crazy?"
