Chapter 1426
It was probably someone working under Darwin or Fiona.
"I'm the director here, Beckett Morris. You know Jim Ford, right? The renowned hypnotherapy expert!"
"Yeah, Jim Ford was my teacher too," Hubert replied.
Jim and Hubert's PhD advisors were classmates.
"Well, looks like we have a bit of a connection then. I have attended several classes taught by Mr. Jim Ford before!" Beckett said proudly.
Hubert followed him inside.
They kept the conversation polite and cordial, avoiding any awkwardness.
From the outside, the mental hospital looked rundown, but inside it was quite clean and orderly.
After passing through two seven or eight-story buildings, Hubert arrived at a medium-sized green space.
"Mr. Graham, she's over there." Beckett pointed to a woman standing by the wall, wearing an ill-fitting hospital gown.
She had her back to them, her body swaying unconsciously.
Looking down, a thumb-thick iron chain extended from her ankle to the wall.
"She doesn't behave well, so we have to limit her movement, otherwise she might hurt someone," Beckett explained.
At that moment, the woman seemed to sense something.
She suddenly turned around.
Upon seeing the dashing Hubert, she immediately screamed, "Ah! Hubert! Hubert!"
All the women here had the same haircut, short with bangs just above the shoulders.
Rose was no exception.
But she was thin.
Her cheeks were sunken, and her eye sockets were hollow.
As Hubert looked at her, her face suddenly overlapped with the face of Odette in his memory.
Could these two be so similar?
"Thanks. I'd like to speak with her alone," Hubert said to Beckett.
Beckett immediately responded, then shouted at Rose, "Don't hurt the guest, or you won't eat for the next three days!"
Rose instinctively shrank back, not daring to look at Beckett, clearly very afraid of him.
After Beckett finished scolding her, he left.
Hubert walked towards Rose at a leisurely pace, stopping a few steps away from her.
"Hubert..." Rose reached out, trying to touch Hubert.
Her tears were flowing heavily.
But Hubert stood still, not moving closer. Under Rose's eager gaze, he said, "You smell."
Then he looked up, his bright, clear eyes devoid of any emotion, and added, "Just like your mother used to."
Rose's expression turned to horror.
She instinctively raised her hand to sniff herself.
"No! No, I don't!" She denied reflexively, then seemed to come to her senses. "Hubert, please take me away! Fiona is going to torture me to death. I'm not sick, I'm very healthy. You're a psychologist, you know that!"
"Yeah, I know," Hubert nodded lightly. "You're simply bad, not sick."
Rose looked shocked.
"I'll change, no, I've already changed. I'll be good and listen to you, Hubert. We grew up depending on each other. Can you bear to see me like this?" She cried. "Everyone here is crazy. If I stay here any longer, I'd rather die! Hubert, I'm begging you, take me away! Please take me away!"
"Darwin is fine," Hubert suddenly smiled warmly. "His discharge evaluation was flawless. Fiona personally picked him up that day, and didn't bring anyone else. They're probably still enjoying their time together."
