Chapter 1180

Seeing Fiona and Darwin got the cemetery staff all hyped up.

If it weren't for the work cameras, the guy probably would've asked for a selfie.

Fiona walked up the steps with Darwin.

Even though she was crazy busy last year, Fiona always made time to bring Charles and Chicago to visit.

Today felt different for her.

As she stood by the tombstone, wiping off the dust, she remembered over six years ago when she found out she was pregnant, she came here alone to tell her family.

Back then, she thought her past with Darwin was done.

She never imagined there'd be so much more to come.

She never thought she'd bring Darwin to see them one day.

"Mom, Grandpa, Grandma," Fiona said softly after cleaning the tombstone, then glanced at Darwin. "Today, I brought my husband to see you."

Darwin's eyes got misty.

His Adam's apple bobbed. "Mom, Grandpa, Grandma, I'm Darwin. Sorry it took me so long to visit. From now on, I'll come often."

Fiona smiled.

Then, she asked Darwin to place the stuff they brought in front of the tombstone.

As Darwin did this, Fiona looked up and met his gaze.

Her nose tingled and her eyes grew warm.

'Grandma, please help me protect him. I no longer hold any grudges about the past. I'll help him make amends,' Fiona prayed silently.

At that moment, Darwin was also silently repenting and making promises to Carla and her family.

He repented for his past indifference and the harm he caused them.

He promised to protect Fiona in the future.

They stayed at West Mountain Cemetery until it was almost dark before getting up to leave.

Fiona took the path she used to walk.

The supermarket owner had changed, but the ice cream she loved was still there.

She bought two, one for herself and one for Darwin.

As they ate, she told Darwin the story behind the ice cream.

Darwin wrapped his arm around her waist, pressing his forehead against hers.

Fiona smiled at him. "Guess what, do you think Chicago is complaining at home that we came to Serene City without them?"

"Yep." Darwin nodded with a smile. "She just sent me a message on Facebook."

Fiona laughed.

"We can't always take them everywhere. From now on, we need to make sure we have some time just for us each year," she said.

They needed to talk more about a beautiful future, giving Darwin more hope.

"Alright." Darwin looked at Fiona with gentle eyes.

Fiona touched his cheek and then, with her lips cold from the ice cream, kissed him lightly. "Let's go home."

The sunset slowly descended, casting long shadows of Darwin and Fiona on the ground.

As they left the gate, Fiona went to pay a management fee.

At that moment, Darwin's phone rang.

It was Rex calling.

Darwin glanced at Fiona and walked to the side to answer.

"Uncle Darwin, we're back in Bay City." Rex's voice sounded happy. "When are you free? I brought you some delicious food!"

"How about tomorrow? I'll send a driver to pick you up," Darwin said gently, "How about lunch with my wife and me?"

"Okay!" Rex said excitedly, "But you don't need to pick me up. Just tell me where, and I'll ride my bike there! My grandma bought me a new bike; it's really cool!"
