Chapter 1425

After arriving in Bay City, Hubert met with several alumni who had returned to develop their careers. His career path had its roots in Armie. Last year, Patricia's brief return to Armie sparked Hubert's interest in developing his career there.

Armie's psychological research field wasn't thriving, so when the alumni heard about Hubert's interest in moving to Armie, they eagerly offered him advice and planning assistance.

Following these meetings, Hubert attended academic conferences for two consecutive days. His good looks, knowledge, and refined demeanor caught the attention of many students, who recorded videos and took photos, uploading them to various platforms.

This brought Hubert quite a bit of attention.

Hubert's temporary psychology practice in Bay City had his appointment schedule fully booked for the entire year.

After Rose left, Hubert hired a new assistant.

The new assistant had just graduated from a prestigious university and came to Hubert through his former professor. The new assistant's capabilities far surpassed Rose's.

Hubert had always treated Rose like family.

Most of the time, Hubert accommodated Rose's work habits. He was easygoing and didn't mind her occasional carelessness or moodiness.

But with the new assistant, Hubert finally understood what professionalism meant.

The assistant quickly learned his daily habits through observation. When he arrived at the office, the appropriate aromatherapy for his consultations was already set up.

The coffee beans he liked were stocked in the break room. After just a few days, there was no more plain water on Hubert's desk.

Hubert indeed preferred coffee over plain water.

"Professor, you've seen all your patients for today. You have no other appointments this afternoon." The assistant said, gently knocking on the door.

Hubert removed his gold-rimmed glasses. "Alright, I'm visiting an old friend this afternoon. You don't need to come along. Take the rest of the day off."

"Do you need any gifts prepared?" The assistant asked.

"I've already taken care of it," Hubert replied with a gentle shake of his head.

The assistant nodded and left without saying more.

Hubert glanced at the time; it was just about lunchtime.

He packed up his briefcase.

After leaving the office, he used his phone's navigation to find a small sandwich shop on the street. The place didn't look great, but it was reputed to have excellent food.

He ordered a simple meal and found a corner to sit in. He leisurely enjoyed a cheese and bacon sandwich, a custard-filled croissant, and a glass of iced lemon water.

In the past, Hubert had been so focused on his research that Rose had taken care of his meals.

Such food rarely appeared on his table.

After a satisfying meal, Hubert checked the time again and then drove to a small coastal town not far from Bay City.

The town was quiet, with only a few elderly people and scruffy children on the streets.

The navigation system struggled here.

Hubert took a couple of wrong turns before finally arriving at a place with a barely visible sign indicating it was a mental hospital.

After parking, a middle-aged man with meticulously combed hair, who had been waiting outside the iron gate, approached with a broad smile.

"Mr. Graham, it's a pleasure to finally meet you!"

"Hello," Hubert replied politely, shaking the man's hand. "I'm here to visit Rose Everhart."

"Yes, we were informed." The man said.

Hubert didn't ask who had called.
