Chapter 1062
"It really shouldn't have been, hiring such a young kid as a tutor," Darwin said helplessly, "Next time Chicago needs a tutor, let's hire an adult."
"That's not up to us; it depends on whether your daughter agrees," Fiona said with a wry smile.
Darwin lowered his eyelids and didn't respond to Fiona. "Let's go inside; Grandma is still waiting for us to eat."
"Okay!"
The two held hands and slowly walked toward the elevator.
Compared to the brightly lit Emerald Pool, the old street seemed very dim, with thickly stacked wires occasionally making noises.
Xavier took down Ethan's luggage.
He looked somewhat embarrassed. "Ethan, I didn't ask for your opinion first and just brought you back. If you could help me cover this up in front of Mrs. Solomon, otherwise..."
Ethan's expression was even calmer than usual.
He put away his phone.
"You don't need to say so much; I understand." He took his luggage.
Xavier was slightly taken aback.
"Thank you." Ethan nodded coldly and distantly, then dragged his suitcase and carried his large backpack, walking into the darkness.
After his parents died, he rarely felt anxious anymore.
Especially during the time he confronted Anthony and Sharon, he almost forgot what fear felt like.
A year ago, he saved Chicago with a stone, and his life changed.
It was like going on a magnificent journey.
With Fiona, who was as gentle as a mother, and Chicago, who was quirky but very determined. And some other strange new friends.
His numb heart slowly warmed up through these adventures.
This directly led to his lack of vigilance.
He actually sneaked out to play with Chicago and the others. But he was different from them.
Charlotte had a loving father. And she jumped into the river to save Chicago back then.
The Walker brothers had a powerful family background.
Anyone could be forgiven and understood for this escape, except for him.
Until he was just woken up and saw the familiar yet somewhat strange streets, the anxiety of the past two days came to an abrupt end.
This magnificent journey had come to an end.
He had to return to his old life, which wasn't so bad.
He preferred being alone to being surrounded by people.
He walked through the dim alley. The light in the apartment building was broken again, and he groped his way upstairs and opened the door.
After being unoccupied for a while, one could smell the musty odor as soon as he opened the door of this old house.
Ethan turned on the light. He put his things away and silently opened all the windows.
Then he fetched water and carefully cleaned the entire house, adding perfume to the water.
After cleaning, the house became spotless, but the unpleasant smell didn't go away.
Instead, it became even stranger due to the mixed perfume scent.
Ethan was speechless. He decided to leave it alone.
He took out everything from his backpack, neatly arranged them back on the desk.
He glanced at the time.
Clearly, he had been busy for a long time, but only an hour had passed.
