Chapter 996
Thalassa immediately replied.
Thalassa: [What an adorable child, like a cartoon character.]
Stella smiled.
Stella: [This is Mason. The one I told you guys about.]
Thalassa, who had recently become a mother and had an abundance of maternal love to give, quickly replied.
Thalassa: [So cute! If his parents were still around, they would surely love and spoil him!]
Stella read the message and instinctively looked at Mason.
"What? Is there something on my face?" Mason asked.
Stella shook her head and continued chatting with Thalassa for a bit.
It was Monday. Fiona was most likely in an online video conference. Monsoon Investment had recently secured a massive acquisition deal, and she needed to attend to help draft the proposal.
After breakfast, Mason had more tasks to attend to.
Stella didn't disturb him and found a spot that was well-lit spot but not too sunny. There, she began methodically checking the accounts of several stores for the past half month. The accounts were numerous and complex. Once she delved into them, she lost track of time.
By the time Alexander woke up, it was already noon.
A fellow believer was reading a book in the room.
Seeing the male believer, Alexander instantly knew that Stella wasn't there. Though she appeared carefree, she was inherently polite and well-mannered. It made sense she wasn't there to accompany him.
The church was vast, but it was easy for Alexander to find Stella.
She disliked dark places but didn't like being in the sun either, and avoided crowds. Thus, she basically made it easy for him to find her.
Alexander left the room, took a detour, and walked through a deserted path. At a shaded spot surrounded by tall trees, he finally found Stella biting her thumb and going over the accounts.
He believed deeply in fate and was convinced that he and Stella shared a profound connection. Perhaps they were once a single, complete person who, after enduring various hardships, became two independent yet incomplete souls. Only by reuniting and reclaiming each other could their lives and souls be whole again.
That must be why Stella had such a healing effect on him. Even by just looking at her, the inexplicable anxiety in his heart would be extinguished.
While Stella was reviewing the accounts, she noticed discrepancies in one store's transactions. Feeling frustrated, she looked up and saw Alexander. Her worried expression vanished instantly, replaced by a bright smile.
Alexander smiled back and walked towards her.
"How did you know I was here?" Stella asked softly, looking up at him.
Alexander gently caressed her cheek and said, "What kind of horrible man would I be if I can't even find my wife?"
"Hungry?" Stella glanced at the time and asked. "It's noon, so you must be hungry. You didn't even have time for breakfast!"
She stood up and took Alexander's hand. "Let's go to the cafeteria!"
Alexander didn't move. Instead, he pulled Stella back.
She lost her balance and had to hook her arm around Alexander's waist to steady herself.
"What's wrong?" Stella asked.
"Let's not go to the church cafeteria," Alexander said, picking a small leaf from her hair. "Liam made lunch. Let's go eat at his place."
