Chapter 1461

Although Hubert later learned that Aiden's death was largely due to Odette switching Aiden's medication, the incident where Aiden suddenly fell ill and killed Odette had cast a long shadow over his childhood.

So, when Darwin returned to Armie, Hubert threw himself into his work there.

Regarding the development of pharmaceuticals, Hubert, through Darwin's introduction, connected with the Walker Family, who had exceptional resources in the medical field.

Before long, the Walker Family established a pharmaceutical research lab for Hubert in Armie.

During this period, except for the first month after Darwin returned to Armie, Hubert visited Emerald Pool almost every week for the next six months to check on Darwin's condition.

To Hubert's surprise, Darwin's condition improved even more after returning to Emerald Pool than it had when he was in Cyberia.

Despite this, Hubert didn't hastily reduce Darwin's medication.

Time flew by.

Before they knew it, it was New Year's again.

The night before New Year's Eve, Hubert was still in the lab, pulling his hair out over yet another failed research report.

Hubert used to have a full head of hair, but ever since he started working on pharmaceutical research, he had been losing it in clumps.

Just as he was fretting, Fiona called.

On New Year's Eve, Hubert dressed up in a suit and brought many gifts he found online to Emerald Pool.

He was a bit nervous upon arrival.

Adjusting his bow tie, he was about to walk up the steps when a figure suddenly leaped past him. Hubert watched in astonishment as the slender figure used the decorative stones on the outer wall, which seemed impossible to support anyone, to climb up to the terrace and jump inside.

Before she went in, she seemed to sense someone watching her and turned to look at Hubert.

Her eyes were pure and clean, yet carried a hint of judgmental coldness.

After a brief glance, she turned away, jumped over the marble railing, and walked inside without looking back.

Around them, neither the bodyguards nor the busy servants seemed to notice this scene.

If Hubert weren't a staunch materialist, he might have thought he had seen a ghost.

Just then, the bodyguard who came to fetch him, a tall, stern man, suddenly gave him a friendly smile. "Mr. Graham, that's my daughter. She doesn't like elevators or stairs."

Hubert nodded blankly. "She's quite agile. Did you teach her?"

"I helped lay the foundation when she was young. She has a skilled master who used to be Mrs. Solomon's personal bodyguard. You know Stuart, right?"

Hubert chuckled. "I've heard of Stuart's reputation."

As they chatted, they reached the front door.

Before they could ring the bell, the door opened.

Charlotte stood there. She had grown taller over the past six months, and although her bob haircut was initially an accident, she had gotten used to it and kept it.

"Mr. Graham!" Chicago peeked out from behind Charlotte, his face streaked with paint. "Charlotte, this is Mr. Graham. Every time he comes, you're at tutoring!"

"Hello, happy New Year."

Hubert looked at the young girl in front of him.

Her expression on the marble railing earlier was nothing like this.

Now that she knew who he was, her eyes showed obvious respect.

Hubert stepped inside.

Even from downstairs, he could feel the festive atmosphere.

The house was no different.

"You made it?"

Fiona came down from upstairs and smiled warmly at Hubert. "Chicago, take Hubert to the dining room and let him pick a few dishes he likes."
