Chapter 1235

That night flew by in a blur.

Fiona gave Darwin his meds, and he was out like a light.

But she stayed up all night, sitting on the sofa by the big window in their bedroom, wide awake.

When Darwin woke up in the morning, he saw Fiona packing their bags.

"Why didn't you wait for me to wake up? I could've helped," he said, getting up and grabbing his cane.

"It's already done," Fiona replied, turning to him. "Perfect timing. Go have breakfast with the kids; they need to head to school soon."

"Alright." Darwin helped her up.

They hugged, freshened up, and headed downstairs.

Breakfast was a feast today.

Ashton was up early too, chatting with Chicago.

When Fiona and Darwin arrived, Ashton made room for them.

It was rare for the whole family to have breakfast together.

Chicago reminded Fiona to bring the charger and check the passports before they left.

"Got it," Darwin said, wiping the corner of Chicago's mouth with a napkin. "Be good at home and listen to Ashton and Kenny. I'll bring you gifts when we get back."

"Okay!" Chicago said.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, she put down her spoon and grasped Darwin's large hand. "I don't need gifts, just come back safe, both of you."

In Chicago's memory, whenever Darwin and Fiona went on business trips, something always went wrong.

"Of course," Darwin nodded seriously.

"It's time for school," Fiona said gently after checking the time.

Then, Darwin and Fiona took the kids to the garage.

As always, before leaving, Chicago hugged Fiona tightly, then hugged Darwin and gave him a few kisses, whispering, "Love you both!"

Only then did Chicago get in the car and leave.

Watching the car drive away, Darwin felt a strong sense of reluctance, like they wouldn't see each other for a long time.

"Alright, we should get going," Fiona said, taking a deep breath and patting Darwin's hand.

Darwin never doubted Fiona.

If she told him to go on a business trip or even to die, he'd do it without question.

They didn't have much luggage.

To avoid making Darwin suspicious, Fiona quickly threw some things into a suitcase.

Before they left, Darwin saw Burl sitting in the front seat, wearing a mask and a baseball cap, with earphones in, looking grumpy, and Darwin was puzzled.

"He's been lounging around at home for months. It's time he did something. It's not good for someone his age to be idle," Fiona explained.

Darwin nodded in agreement.

"But it's okay for young people not to work. I've seen how happy Chicago and Charles are these past few days. If they grow up and just want to play, I'm fine with that too."

After all, the family had plenty of money.

"If Janna hears that, you'll get an earful," Fiona said, holding Darwin's arm and interlocking her fingers with his. "I hope these kids grow up fast and take over the company, so we can travel like Stella and Alexander."

Darwin looked at Fiona with bright eyes.

"We don't have to wait for them to grow up. What are all those managers for? If you want, we can start planning it now," Darwin said seriously.

Fiona looked at him.

Ever since she found out about Darwin's illness, everything he did and said felt surreal.
