Right now, the Wesley family was scared out of their minds because of Fiona.
Forget about asking them to be decent people; if you told them to kneel, they'd do it without a second thought.
Fiona had just shown up on their radar.
She didn't even know them before tonight.
But in just one night, she had all their dirty laundry aired out.
Who knew if she had any dirt that could land them in jail?
Wesley and Jasper had been bullies, but this was the first time they got their butts handed to them so completely.
"We'll never do anything bad again!" Vivienne was the first to swear, and Wesley and Jasper quickly chimed in.
Fiona found it all pretty dull.
These folks were all tough when they were the ones bullying, but the moment they met someone they couldn't push around, they folded like a cheap suit.
If they kept resisting, Fiona could have the whole Wesley family locked up right now.
"Let's go." Fiona turned to the kids, losing interest.
The Wesley family helped each other up and stumbled away.
Before leaving, Jasper shot a look at Emrys, like he wanted to tear him apart, but he didn't dare to stare for long.
He hurried off.
"Mrs. Solomon." Amias stepped forward.
Fiona looked at him, her fierce demeanor gone. "Mr. Blacksmith, I might've gone overboard. Hope it didn't cause you any trouble."
Amias quickly waved it off, his eyes red. "This made me see what family really is. When they needed me and Marigold, they were all high and mighty. I thought we were family, so helping out was no big deal. But this time, they used grandma's death to bully and humiliate my Emrys!"
Amias's eyes welled up.
Marigold stood beside him, holding his hand and crying to comfort him.
They were gentle souls, never raising their voices.
If Fiona hadn't come to pray this time, they might've been bullied.
Amias wiped his eyes and said firmly, "Mrs. Solomon, don't worry about us. I'll protect them from now on!"
Fiona smiled gently. "Of course you will. But when I was chatting with Vespera the other day, she mentioned Emrys's schooling. She said Emrys chose to study here to stay with her, but the school's not great."
Emrys stayed quiet.
But tears streamed down his face.
Before she passed, Vespera told him to seek bigger horizons, not to get stuck in this small town.
Turns out, she mentioned this to Fiona too.
She must've known their family was gentle, so she entrusted Emrys to Fiona.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Solomon. I'll study hard next year and get into my dream school!" Emrys promised, looking at Fiona seriously.
"Good." Fiona still smiled gently. "You have my number and Facebook. Since Vespera entrusted you to Darwin and me, you can come to me if you need anything."
Emrys finally smiled a bit and nodded obediently.
Then he seemed to think of something and said seriously to Fiona, "I won't give your contact info to any of them!"
Fiona laughed. "What if they try to guilt-trip you? If they say they really need to work for me, what will you do?"
"The Solomon Group and the Rhoads Group both have HR departments. If they want to work for you, they should go for an interview!" Emrys answered confidently.
