Chapter 1164
Not much was popping at Monsoon Investment.
In the office, Fiona was mostly eyeballing key projects for the Rhoads Group for the next year.
She was always all in on her work.
But today she was off her game. Couldn't focus on the docs and kept checking her phone, but there were no messages from Mike.
At lunch, she bumped into Darwin near the Solomon Group building.
While munching, Darwin brought up needing to check out Blaise. "When do you think we should roll out?"
Fiona mulled it over. Things had been a bit overwhelming lately.
If Darwin was cool with it, a few days in Blaise sounded dope.
"Let's bounce today after work," she said.
Darwin was taken aback. "Today?"
Fiona shot back, "We don't need much prep, just some design chats. Two days should do it."
Henry was solid and dependable.
With him steering the Blaise project, Fiona had zero worries.
"Alright then," Darwin nodded. "The sooner we wrap this up, the sooner I can kick off Hubert's treatment, and we won't be on the road during that."
Darwin had been iffy about the treatment before, but now he seemed chill.
Fiona felt a weight lift.
"You're right; I'll set up the trip," she said.
"Cool," Darwin agreed.
He had a meeting that wrapped up at 3:30 p.m.
Fiona and Darwin headed home to throw a few outfits in a bag.
When Charles and Chicago got back from school, they filled them in on the trip.
Charles was his usual chill self.
They thought Chicago might throw a fit, but she didn't. She even grinned slyly. "I know, you guys are going on a trip!"
"Yeah," Fiona chuckled.
"Go ahead, the book says couples need alone time to make romantic memories!" Chicago waved them off. "Two days is too short, stay longer. Don't sweat it, I'll handle Charles and everyone!"
Fiona and Darwin cracked up.
Fiona scooped her up and gave her a smooch.
Charles sighed, knowing he couldn't dodge it either.
He was grateful that his mother kissed his sister first, ensuring that the lipstick mark on his own face would be lighter.
But Fiona whipped out her lipstick, touched up, and planted several kisses on Charles' cheeks. "Fairness is my jam!"
Charles stayed mum.
"Alright, your dad and I are outta here," Fiona patted Charles' head. "The house is in your hands."
"Got it," Charles nodded. "Be safe and hit us up when you take off and land."
