Chapter 705 An Eye for an Eye
Fiona was taken aback.
Looking at Henry, she asked, "Because of the ocean?"
Henry nodded. "Mr. Solomon said that he was sure you would love it here."
Fiona furrowed her brow slightly.
Taking her gaze away, Fiona looked back at the ocean, tears blurring her eyes.
Last month, Darwin's father approached her, representing the Solomon family.
The Solomon family saw that Solomon was stable in all aspects and Fiona held the fort. They began urging her to obtain Darwin's death certificate and announce his death to the world as soon as possible. Then they would hold a funeral for Darwin, along with a spiritual ceremony.
Fiona got furious and even cut off Darwin's father's monthly allowance.
However, it had been so long. Fiona's heart shattered into a million pieces, each disappointment leaving a fresh wound. She tried every method imaginable, but there was not a trace of Darwin.
Fiona couldn't find Darwin, not even a tiny clue. Yet, they expected her to declare that Darwin was dead?
She couldn't do it, and couldn't bear to do it.
"Secretary Woods, Mr. Solomon indeed used to be a jerk, but I can clearly feel that he truly, truly loved you." Henry was touched. "You don't know that when news of your death reached the president's office, there was grief all around. Gradually, everyone started submitting their resignations. Mr. Solomon offered them sky-high salaries to try and keep them. We all know that he doesn't want to keep us, but rather, he wants to keep the people related to you."
"I know." Fiona gently nodded.
Fiona already knew that Darwin loved her deeply. She no longer needed to be cautious and seek confirmation.
Fiona even began planning a future with Darwin.
"I'm sorry. I’ve probably said too much." Henry wiped away his tears. "In any case, even if it's just for Mr. Solomon's original idea, I will stay here and make this project a success."
Fiona's gaze dimmed a little.
"We will," Fiona answered firmly, "If anyone tries to stop me, I will make them pay no matter what the reason is!"
Henry could sense the aura surrounding Fiona.
His heart inexplicably chilled, as he knew that Secretary Woods was truly angry this time.
In the past, when there were so many problems in the company, Secretary Woods would just handle them without showing much anger.
Henry inexplicably started to worry about the indigenous people involved in all of this.
Later in the evening, a large cruise ship docked.
A large group of protesters had already gathered near the pier.
Almost everyone on the island who was protesting was there.
Despite her mother's objections, Aura still came.
"Wow, there are so many people! It's so lively!" The first person to disembark was handsome and refined.
"Young Master, please be careful!" A person followed closely behind him.
"Mike, how did you become so timid after that injury? I can jump down from here without breaking my arms or legs." Burl was confident.
Mike was speechless.
He thought to himself, ‘Doesn't he realize that it's normal for his thin arms and legs to break if he falls?’
"Can you stop mentioning the injury all the time? It's been a long time already." Mike muttered.
Then he turned around.
"Pick up your things, don't leave anything behind!"
"Who allowed you people to come to the island?" Aura shouted at them when she saw them.
"We?" Burl looked at Aura.
Then he clapped his hands.
The people who had disembarked lined up and unfurled a banner.
"We vow to defend the Coral Sea and protect the environment. It is everyone's responsibility!"
Aura fell silent.
The activists who were preparing to attack wondered, ‘What happened to the hired thugs?
'Were they actually allies?
"There's more!" Burl was cheerful.
He waved his hand and the group put away the banner. Another row of people stepped forward and unfurled another banner. "Resist spreading rumors. Resist stealing. Resist exploiting the innocent Coral Sea. We speak up for the Coral Sea!"
Aura fell speechless.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I have over fifty banners of various kinds here. Don't worry, the materials used for the banners are environmentally friendly. Not only are they biodegradable, but also they serve as nutrients for plants. Some of them can even serve as food for sea turtles and fish, without any harmful additives. The ingredients can even help turtles grow their shells! It sounds amazing, so I immediately ordered eight of them! Let's contribute to the environment!"
Mike struggled to hold back his laughter.
Aura went too far.
Burl was dealing with Aura using her own methods.
"Oh, I also brought the most professional live-streaming equipment!" Burl proudly announced. "In the future, when you do live streaming on the island, you won't have to worry about slow internet anymore. Just come to me and experience super-fast internet speed! We are all environmentalists and allies. I won't charge a penny!"
"I won't allow it," Aura said sternly. "You're just the accomplices of capitalists; you're not here to protect the Coral Sea!"
"Miss, may I ask for your name?" Burl looked at Aura and then raised his right hand, pointing to his chest. "I'm Burl."
Aura pondered for a moment. "I'm Aura, I'm a native of the island!"
Burl made a disgusted expression and said, 'Indigenous people? We were just talking about you on the way here. You, as the so-called indigenous people who have lived here for decades, are too careless. This beautiful coral sea is so close to you, and you pass by it every day when you go out fishing. How come you only discovered these precious corals now?'"
Aura wanted to argue.
Blaise had taught her how to respond.
But who was this young master Burl?
He was so quick with his words, not giving Aura a chance to speak up.
"As I think about how the coral babies have unknowingly suffered so much hidden damage over the years due to your fishing activities, my heart aches! Or did you actually already know how valuable the coral babies are, but kept it a secret for your fishing interests? And now that the island is sold, you are trying to use the unfortunate coral babies and these kind-hearted people to extort more money from us, right? Making money in such an unethical way, you truly are as heartless as you appear, so sinister!"
"You!" Aura exploded in anger.
She was even angrier than when she confronted Fiona during the daytime.
"We don't welcome you here, get lost!" Aura disregarded all else and immediately berated Burl.
However, what Aura didn't expect was that among the environmentalists she had brought, some were truly convinced by Burl's deceptive arguments.
"Yes, why didn't you discover the coral sea earlier or later, but only when the island was sold and about to undergo development? Weren't you saying that you often go to that part of the sea?"
"But we weren't aware of the value of the corals. It was my fiancé who accidentally discovered such precious corals when he came to the island to help us move. Please believe us. If it were really about money, we could have privately asked Solomon for investment. Why would we go through all this trouble?" Aura pleaded tearfully.
