Chapter 708 Leave With Blaise Overnight
"As for the drones, do you need them? I can lend one to you so that you can occasionally fly out and check the condition of the coral sea!" Burl continued to be very generous and open-minded.
Brule's purpose behind this was very simple.
It was to make these volunteers focus on their original purpose instead of getting involved in the dispute between the indigenous people and Fiona, and to cut off the internet support the indigenous people had relied on during this time.
"Really? That's great!" one male volunteer exclaimed, bursting with excitement.
He had been eyeing those drones for a while now.
According to what he had heard, those machines were customized and couldn't be bought even if one had money.
"Of course, we are all here to protect the corals. Although the experts haven't definitively confirmed whether these corals are endangered species, we still have to work together to protect them until then."
"Yes, after that deep-sea botanist visited, we haven't heard anything. We don't know when we'll get results. We've been camping out on this island, and if those corals turn out not to be precious corals, it would be such a waste of time," someone grumbled.
"How can identification be that fast? And that botanist said that there was a ninety-nine percent chance that they were critically endangered corals. Didn't he say that he was going back to bring more authoritative people for the final evaluation and verification? It's only been a few days; everyone needs to be patient!"
"Yes, regardless of whether they are precious or not, we should be prepared to defend them as if they were endangered!"
Burl nodded vigorously. "But even if it turns out they are not endangered coral, we shouldn't feel like we wasted our time. This beautiful island brought us good-hearted people from all around the world, and that's a wonderful experience in itself!"
The crowd applauded enthusiastically.
Mike resisted the urge to give Burl a thumbs-up.
Mike suddenly remembered how Burl looked when he first arrived on the island. Skinny, disheveled, with a rough beard. When he saw Miss Chelsea, he knelt down and cried, saying he had lost his grandfather. There was snot and tears everywhere.
Back then, Burl's hadn't been as persuasive as he was.
He was truly impressive.
No wonder he was Miss Chelsea's beloved brother.
There was strength in numbers.
In no time, Burl and his team found an excellent spot and installed the surveillance equipment.
Meanwhile, at Aura's hotel rooftop, there was a fragile man with a cane standing tall, looking toward the distant pole.
"What are these people up to again?" Aura came up with a thin blanket in her hands.
The temperature on the island would drop significantly after nightfall.
Aura was worried that Blaise would get sick.
"Who are these people?" the man asked.
"They say they're volunteers. A whole ship of them, around seventy to eighty people. There's this flashy guy who managed to lure all the volunteers on our side away. A few radical ones were scared off too, and they left on a boat."
The man's beautiful eyes crinkled at the corners. "It looks like they came with President Solomon."
"I think so too." Aura frowned.
The man suddenly touched his forehead. His hand was covered in ugly scars from a recent injury.
"Having another headache?" Aura became anxious and reached out to support the man.
The man instinctively avoided Aura's hand.
Aura's hand hung in the air.
"Blaise." She looked hurt.
Blaise's face turned pale, a hint of apology in his eyes. "Give me a little more time."
"Well, I won't rush you. We have a lifetime ahead, and I'll wait for you to get better." Aura smiled gently.
Blaise chuckled lightly.
The headache was really bad.
Blaise glanced again at the location where Burl and the others had installed the surveillance equipment. "That should be a surveillance device."
"Surveillance?" Aura's expression changed. "Are they monitoring the coral area?"
"It seems so," Blaise replied. "But it's alright. I can confirm that the coral is a protected species. Once more authoritative experts arrive and confirm it, I have a way to prevent them from starting construction on the island."
Aura lowered her eyelids and said, "But that woman said that even if they don't start construction, they still want to drive us out."
The property was in their hands.
Aura knew that she had the power to drive them away.
"I will find a way," Blaise said gently. "You and Mom don’t need to be worried."
Aura had the right to be worried.
That woman seemed difficult to deal with.
But Blaise had a headache, and Aura didn't want him to think too much, so she gently nodded.
At this moment, someone called Aura downstairs.
They seemed urgent.
Aura looked at Blaise, and Blaise nodded at her. "Go, I will rest for a while."
"Okay!"
Aura hurriedly ran downstairs.
It was a handsome guy wearing a white T-shirt and beach pants.
"Cyrus Blackwood, what's wrong? Why are you in such a hurry?" Aura asked in a deep voice.
Cyrus glanced inside, as if guarding against someone overhearing something, and pulled Aura toward the beach.
When they were close to the beach, Aura became annoyed and shook off Cyrus's hand, asking, "What's going on?"
"Why are there so many people on the island? They look like mercenaries," Cyrus said in a deep voice.
Cyrus had seen mercenaries before.
These people were just like the mercenaries he had seen.
"They were hired by capitalists," Aura said in a deep voice. "The president's wife of Solomon came during the day, and these people should be brought by her."
"The president's wife?" Cyrus was shocked. "Did she actually come to this side?"
"No." Aura frowned. "Why would I let her come over here?"
Cyrus pondered for a moment before saying, "Aura, you and your mom should leave with Blaise overnight. I will prepare a boat for you. I'll stay here to hold them off!"
"What's wrong with you and Mom? In the daytime, she said she wanted to leave, and at night you said you wanted to leave!" Aura's face turned grim. "Blaise and I have discussed about it and we want to survive with the island and Dad's hotel!"
"You have no idea what will happen if you continue to stay," Cyrus said angrily.
Aura was rarely scolded by Cyrus.
Aura lost her temper. "Then just tell me what will happen! Cyrus, I used to believe in you a lot and thought you could definitely find a solution to save Dad's hotel, but you went out and didn't succeed, except..."
Aura instinctively turned her head, her sentence left unfinished.
"Anyway, I don't believe in your words now. I will rely on myself to protect this island and my dad's hotel!"
"Your solution is to poison those corals, right?" Cyrus asked in a lowered voice.
Aura was startled. "How do you know?"
"You asked my friend to buy that kind of antifungal powder for you. Did you think he wouldn't tell me?" Cyrus said, pointing at the standing surveillance camera. "Did you see that? Do you think the CEO's wife is just an ordinary person? She's a woman who can handle such a large conglomerate. You're no match for her!" "
