Chapter 1422
Darwin leaned down and kissed Fiona gently. "You sit down first, dinner will be ready soon."
"Okay." Fiona took a seat at the dining table.
Darwin arranged the flowers he had bought for her, placing them in a vase.
It wasn't long before Darwin brought out a delicious dinner.
Just as they sat down, Fiona's phone rang.
Darwin went to the other room to get it for her. "It's Henry."
"It's probably something from work." Fiona took the phone, playfully patting Darwin's butt. "Mrs. Solomon, you've to handle some business now. Be a good boy and don't cause any trouble."
Darwin immediately put on an obedient expression and sat down next to her.
Fiona didn't like her food too hot, so Darwin took the cooked meat out and placed it on a small plate to cool.
As he did this, Darwin suddenly wondered when the last time they had dinner together like this was.
He was startled to realize it was before she had faked her death and disappeared.
"Just follow the plan you made. I won't have time in the next few days, and I might not be able to answer calls. Handle what you can on your own." Fiona instructed.
Henry responded affirmatively on the other end.
After a few more words, Fiona hung up the phone.
"Why are you staring at me?" Fiona asked, putting her phone down and glancing at Darwin.
Darwin didn't say anything. He leaned in and kissed her lips tenderly.
"Honey, God must really be looking out for me. I made so many mistakes, but He let you come off that plane and gave me a chance to make things right with you."
"Why bring that up again?" Fiona sighed, raising her hand to touch Darwin's cheek.
He closed his eyes, pressing his cheek into her palm with reverence.
"I'm just feeling grateful."
"Do you want to make amends?" Fiona suddenly asked.
Darwin opened his eyes, sat up straight, and nodded seriously. "I'll do whatever you want!"
"Can you hold back for the next few days? I'm not as young and energetic as I used to be!" Fiona said with a mix of laughter and exasperation.
Darwin was taken aback, then laughed too. He gently pulled Fiona into his arms and said softly, "Alright, I'll do whatever you want for the next few days. Anything you wanted me to do before but I didn't, we'll do it all."
Fiona had never been a demanding person.
Even when she started to develop feelings for Darwin, she always reminded herself to stay professional.
So, her requests were always very simple.
She never even asked to go out together.
Darwin would only agree to her requests when he was in a good mood, which was rare over the five years.
Despite that, Fiona was content back then.
Because, after all, he wasn't really hers.
